Awesome campground, with cooler summer temperatures. Only drawback was the hassle of having to purchase and insert 20 quarters into the machine for a 5 or 10 minute shower. It you are going to charge for showers, find a more efficient way to manage it. Sell $5 tokens instead of 20 quarters! Also, as with most campgrounds, quiet hours are not enforced. Its a shame that a few disrespectful campers can make everyone annoyed.

We LLove Big Meadow! We really enjoyed this campground. Theres lots to do in this area.

We were in site A85. A loop in an RV. Sites in our area mixed tents, RVs, individuals sleeping in their vehicles arrangements. Not much vegetation separating the sites L, R and behind and fairly close together. Behind us was a LARGE 8 tent youth group in bright orange dome tents. Next time Id pick a site father up in A loop or in B loop. Sites more spread out and private there with more trees in between. Otherwise its dry camping. Zero cell phone coverage with Verizon.

Great location overall! Lots of sites, which is a plus and a minus. Bathhouse was clean. Deer EVERYWHERE, but didn't bother us or our dogs. Plenty of wood available for purchase, although $10 per bundle seems pricey.

It would be better if electric sites were available for trailers. Otherwise, the sites are large and all close to bathroom facilities.

We had a great site and met great people, but the cold snap (in the 20s) sent us home early. The Lodge restaurant was disappointing due to short-staffing.

This very busy campground (Memorial Day Weekend!) is in an excellent location to explore and experience Shenandoah National Park.We have stayed here a number of times over the past few years and are generally satisfied with the experience.Positives include: great hiking from the campground to several neat spots (including an easy loop over Blackrock summit and along the AT to the campground amphitheater) and level sites.Negatives include: sites are close together with few trees between sites to add privacy.The staff is generally friendly and helpful, although they appear understaffed because bathrooms are not cleaned often enough. Huge problem is the camp fire wood sold on site... it is not well seasoned. We always bring kiln dried wood purchased in a grocery store near the park to add to any bundles we purchase on site.

I love this park. Wish you had more FCFS in Big Meadows that were in better condition. Something you should think about!!!
