Despite the shutdown, I had a great time. I'm sure I would have enjoyed the ranger led programs which were not available. However, I got great advice for good hikes that fit my time and distance preferences. I would definitely go back.

Great campsite with access to really cool hikes! Loved that it was also nearby a lodge/hotel so it made for an easy dinner when I didn't want to cook over a fire. Bathrooms and showers were really nice and clean. It was a well taken care of campground and I'd be happy to stay there again in the spring.

Spot A070. Good spot for tent or Class B RV. T-MOBILE signal was 5G UC. Close to restrooms which were clean. Bear box and water right next to site. $5 showers with hot water close by and near dark hollow falls

This was an amazing experience. Since there is parking for tent only camp sites hence it provide a little less privacy.

Great campground with easy access to excellent family friendly hiking. We enjoyed the ranger programs we participated in. We were not fans of the paid cold showers, but overall a great experience.

My favorite place to camp. Whether solo or with my partner, I always have a great time. The sites are shady and pleasant, lots of hiking nearby, the meadow is amazing, and the lodge is great to hang out when the weather is less than perfect.

Well spaced sites, clean and neat campsites, clean and neat bathrooms and shower facilities! Laundry was a plus! Spectacular location for people who like to walk/hike

Staying at big meadows is great. It seems like people mostly only stay a night or two by my mom and I enjoyed 8 nights at this campground. There is so much hiking to do in the area. Just hanging out at our campsite we saw so much wildlife, deer, fawns, owls! Mid week was nice and quiet, Friday and Saturday nights were incredibly busy and load. It was hard to get to use the bathroom and sinks during Friday evening and Saturday due to the volume of people. We were very happy once the weekend crowd passed. We loved our campsite and hope to be back someday. This trip was so amazing and I will never forget the memories I made on this trip!

Even tho it rained every night, we still had a most enjoyable time. We saw many deer (buck, does and fawns) and turkey. Big Meadow Campground was much as I remembered it from 20 years ago.

Wonderful, family-friendly campground. Lots of activities, trails, and the lodge food was good. A $5 shower was a bit much, considering all of the other fees, but its a beautiful and clean National Park.

Excellent base from which to explore hiking trails and scenic overlooks. Weather in early November can a challenge, but we had some great sunny days and were glad not to fight crowds. The lodge was our respite for meals when the wind and rain made cooking impossible.

Loved the area! Bushes and trees beside the campsite helped provide privacy. We had four people and three tents - the site was able to fit all three tents comfortably! Only reason I rated 4 stars was because it is a rather crowded campsite. Car alarms and loud campers occasionally bothered us. We went on August 26 to 27th. Great area tho with amazing amenities!!!

What a lovely campground! We wish that we'd been able to stay longer. VERY well maintained, including bathroom facilities. And deer walking around everywhere, amazing! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

Loved the location of our campsite and the activities we could participate in! Lots of hiking nearby and we could fit two tents and cornhole along with both of our cars. Staff was friendly and we had a blast

Beautiful campground with nice sites and clean facilities. One complaint I have is a family had 2 German Shepherds that barked a lot.

Though we are still new to camping, we had a thoroughly enjoyable visit. The campground is close to so many beautiful trails and we hiked as many as we could. Although we were sleeping in a tent, it was nice to have so many amenities nearly, i.e. : flush toilets, potable water, a laundry facility, showers (although they are pay showers and the hours are limited), and a nice restaurant in an iconic lodge. We'd definitely stay there again.

I love Big Meadows and other NPS campgrounds because they are not privately run for profit. My great fear is that these priceless assets will be sold or leased off to greedy private companies who will ruin them.
@CherishGF91FDC · Camped on Jul 3, 2019 at Campsite #70
Big Meadows is the best campground, private or public that we have ever stayed in. I appreciated the ranger presence, both for the knowledge they shared about Shenandoah National Park and for providing a clean, orderly, family oriented campground. We had an AMAZING experience there. Thank you!!
