The campground is old, rundown, and very crowded. It is evident everywhere you look that they do a bare amount of maintenance. I wouldn't stay there for more than one night.

Big Meadows provides an excellent facility and location for fully participating in the activities in Shenandoah National Park.
We camp here regularly and always receive friendly service and find clean and well maintained facilities.

Camping within the boundaries of Shenandoah National Park at Big Meadows campground was an amazing experience. My wife and I camped at site A077 for four nights, relying on solar power to maintain the charge of the batteries for our travel trailer. While there, we hiked trails within the park to see a waterfall, and to generally enjoy being in the park. We also rode our bicycles (oftentimes with great effort) to the Camp Store and other locations in the Big Meadows area. One aspect that made our stay special was interacting with Park Rangers, all of whom were friendly and helpful.
