This is a rather older campground. Positives are location, of course. Negatives are neglect, especially the roadways within the campground and some rather sizable potholes that could cause serious damage to tires, and pose a trip/fall hazard to walkers. Some sites are level, others, not so much. The showers are run by a concessionaire and cost $5 for 10 minutes, but take quarters. Minimal signage about the cost doesnt help. We ended up giving up and driving to a truck stop for a far better shower experience for similar cost. The NPS might do well to have the Army Corps of Engineers run its campgrounds, as theirs are so much nicer.

Excellent time, yet again, at Big Meadows Campground! The campground is nice, bathrooms are very clean always stocked with soap and toilet paper. Great camp store with everything you might need/want. They also have showers and laundry facilities! Excellent exhibit at Big Meadows visitor center and campground is very close in proximity to excellent hikes and restaurant (the lodge wasnt open yet in late March so we went to Skyland for dinner and it was EXCELLENT food for a national park). Beautiful hikes very close by: Bearfence, Hawksbill, Dark Hollow Falls. Only downfall was not enough EV chargers and the speed is slow, but they are free! Had to wake up super early to charge the car because it took 2+ hours to get about 100 miles of charge and there are no EV chargers even just outside of the park (had to travel about 30-40 miles outside of the park to find a fast charger. If they installed even a couple of superchargers in the park Im sure people would pay for the charge and then the experience wouldve been a 10+! Even still, it was a 9 so we made it work and will definitely be back!!!

Enjoyed my stay. The campground was quiet and clean. Check-in and out was easy. Would have preferred a little more privacy on the site. Showers were close by and clean although you did have to pay to use.

Wonderful place to camp; close to three waterfalls and a visitor center with activities for the kids. We’ve camped here twice and will be back again.
