Great camping. Beautiful grounds. Quiet. Many deer just roam about through camp. We love it!

The camp site itself is great - well maintained, helpful staff, great maps, sign and amenities. Bathrooms were easily accessible and spotless. Perhaps because of this, the campground was very crowded. It was completely full the night we stayed (9/20). Most guests were friendly and adhered to rules, but unfortunately, the three sites directly next to ours were surrounded by a large, loud family group who played music until midnight and stayed up talking loudly until after 2am, despite quiet hours and our polite request for them to quiet down. I realize there's nothing the park service can do about this, but it may be helpful for other campers to know. If you're looking for a quieter camping trip surrounded by nature, definitely try one of the other campgrounds in the park.

Great campground! Tons of wildlife!! Including the annoying kind, gnats lol. Luckily the camp store had head nets for sale which helped a bunch.

Great camping, dear sightings every morning, right onto my camp site. Super quiet at night. Other than the construction, would highly recommend. Can't wait to go back.

Enjoyed my stay but could have used a larger site. I have a large tent and an enclosed canopy as my set up. There really wasn't enough usable room in the unpaved part to accommodate my set up but we made it work. Site is more suited for a small trailer under 20ft. Space between sites was good though not expansive. I would definitely stay again

Big Meadows is clean, well kept and a beautiful place to camp. It's very close to some of the coolest hikes in Shenandoah. Our campsite was completely grass which was nice because no dirt made its way into our tent. Our campsite was surrounded by greenery and had some nice privacy despite being so close to others. The bathrooms and showers were well kept and fairly clean. However I'd recommending bringing an extra towel into the showers to use as a mat or wearing flip flops into the shower to avoid wet socks. One night we were there one group was fairly loud and it kept me awake for sometime, so I would suggest bringing some kind of speaker to play sleep sounds to avoid it being a disturbance, or they could be a little more strict on noise. Also one thing to keep in mind is if your not at the lodge, cell phone coverage is very spotty.

Although it rained, I found out with two suites and some no-shows, there was enough room for all the campers to stay in the lodge!One thing though out dinner at the lodge was pretty bad. It took forever to get the food and most of it was pretty much inedible.Although our breakfast back at the campsites was delicious cooked over the campfire!
