Great campground in the heart of the park. Lots of hiking close by. The campsite is great. Close to concessions and close to AT. Very private.

The campground was so very nice and well-kept...the paved walking trail was a really nice bonus...but what I am reviewing this for is the staff. My husband injured his knee hiking, and we had a walk to tent site booked. The staff showed compassion and readily swapped our campsite for one we could pull up to. This meant a great deal to us and we really appreciate the staff for being so accommodating and compassionate.

My boyfriend and I spent one night at this campground. We loved how clean the showers, the laundry center and the restrooms were. The park ranger was really nice and made sure we knew everything we had to know. We liked that there was a trail which took us to Dark Hollow falls , which is one of the most poppular places in Shenandoah. When we were on a hike we saw deer, an owl and a snake too.

I loved my stay at Big Meadows. In additional to a smooth check-in and check-out, the campground is the nicest that I've ever been to. Large, clean bathrooms, a camp store with a good selection of items (including wood and medicine), and access to the Big Meadows lodge and restaurant. Access to the trails from Big Meadows is also easy, thanks the the walking trail that starts at the campground check in and runs along the main road out to the big meadow itself. I will definitely be back to Shenandoah, and can't wait to check out other campgrounds!

Nice clean tent site, easy access to well maintained shower and restroom facilities, a nice shopfor buying basics, including firewood and Jiffy Pop popcorn. Within 10 minutes on foot is the Lodge, with a bar and restaurant. Within 20 minutes on foot is the larger camp store for a broader array of supplies. Great location in the park. Across from the larger camp store is the actual big meadow, with a nice spot for setting up telescopes for star gazing. We had a great stay.
