Great staff. Beautiful. I have camped here many, many times. Good campsites. Clean. As always, the showers are overpriced, unclean and did I say overpriced?

The campground is well organized with sites of various shapes and sizes. The Park rangers are nearby to give info on local sites and facilities. Bathrooms and water are nearby. There's no electricity or water hookups. We got fine cell service (from T-Mobile) but others didn't get any (i.e. Verizon). We were there in October and it was completely full. There are several sites that aren't reserveable and are only available on a first come first serve basis. The sites fill up quickly during prime season so you'd be well advised to reserve a site in advance. You can switch to another unreserved site if it's still available when you get there. While there's not much privacy, the campground is dead quiet after 10 PM. There are hiking trails within short walking distance. An added bonus attraction: the campground has magnificent night sky viewing even when there's a moon.

My campsite was clean and fairly well maintained (the grass was really long, but the mowers came on the second day and chopped the grass). It was noisy with several families with multiple children nearby, but the children were having fun! If you are looking for quiet, pick a site away from the bathrooms.
My one complaint is the restroom. There are only two stalls for a large number of campsites adjacent to it, so there was often a wait to use that or the sink. Additionally, the showers were far away and you had to pay for them. It seems with so much use by so many people, it would be prudent to build larger facilities that have individual restroom/shower areas such as the one at Julian Price Campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Or at least upgrade the buildings to facilitate larger crowds.
There were a lot of people at Shenandoah- probably because it was the week preceeding the fourth of July, so the popular hiking spots filled up early. But while the rest of the country was in the high 90s and 100s, it was a very pleasant 85 degrees at Shenandoah!
The restaurant at Big Meadows in under construction, so either bring food, or drive to one of the other places (Skyland) if you need to eat out.
