The park is beautiful. Lots of attractive mountain paths. Office service is very good. There is one problem with the showers though. The shower costs $5 and is cold. I informed the man who was guarding there , but he replied that he didn't know why the shower was cold. This is making money for those in need.

We stayed three nights at the campground and had a great time. Everyone was super nice; we also used the showers one night in the main building, which was perfect after a long hiking day. Would definitely come back and recommend to others!

The accommodations are rustic in the cabins. They are drafty, the water pressure in the shower is bad and everything is dated. If you are expecting luxury rooms, the cabins probably aren’t for you. However, if you go for the beautiful surrounding they can’t be beat. The food at the restaurants was average at best.

Big Meadows Campground is located close to some of the best locations for hiking and photography in the park. It's big but well maintained. I was in an area that did not allow generators and I appreciated not having to deal with the noise and fumes. Bathrooms are good for a campground and there are showers across from the entrance. Completely uneventful stay. I come here ever year in the fall and sometimes in the spring. Highly recommend it.
The rangers at the visitors center at Big Meadows are the absolute best! There are so many trails near here. You only need to describe to the ranger what types of hikes you want to do, and they will provide you with detailed maps and excellent recommendations!
Beautiful campground. Very clean bathrooms, showers were great to have, centrally located to everything you’d want nearby- even delicious food and great hiking spots. Only downside was we chose the generator free loop hoping for a quiet spot, but a solo “camper” checked into the site next to us and slept in the car all night with the engine running… very annoying. Would have appreciated having park rangers do a few loops at night to make sure people aren’t doing this.
great campers here. camper help camper, this is the thing I learned.

Ranger at check in was not friendly. Campsite was not level; check your campsite carefully before booking bc it’s hard to see those details online. We were on an incline and sliding in the tent for our stay. There was not a level spot to move the tent. Some of the other sites had much better ground for tents. Our camp neighbor was awful which definitely dampens the experience. She basically wanted everyone quiet the entire 24 hours during the day. The next time we camp at Shenandoah, we will choose one of the smaller campgrounds.
We lived many adventures with friends and moments of unwinding at Big Meadow

Had excellent cell service The drive up to the campground was beautiful but difficult at night. Be sure to watch out for deer.
