Our campsite was level for setting up a tent, in a good location and a short distance from the restroom. The dishwashing station was in a different restroom building, which was fairly close, but less convenient to access. Facilities were well-maintained and cleaned regularly. The campground is near the visitors center, camp store, and lodge. Many ranger-led activities are available in the Big Meadows area. We especially enjoyed the Meadow Walk and the Rapidan Camp Tour.

Because of construction along the path of the closest restrooms, we had to traverse a campsite (or two) in order to access the restrooms. We were not told about this and only found out upon arrival at our campsite. We clearly annoyed our neighbors, who were very unhappy and who vocalized it at every opportunity. This should have been disclosed prior to arrival and every effort should have been made to mitigate it.

Always enjoy Big Meadows - especially enjoyed being in a generator prohibited loop - made a big difference. Saw some cool wildlife right around our campsite, and posititioned perfectly for exploring the park.

Loved this campground. Clean bathrooms, have showers available as well as laundry services for a small price. Visitors Center informative, friendly staff, great amenities, camp store had nice supply of just about anything you would need. Highly recommend and cant wait to stay again!!!!

Great spot! The rangers were super nice since we pulled up in the rain. They told us to come back if our site was flooded. It was clean and a great experience! Lots of wild life deer and owls

We had an excellent time. Most days deer and fawn walked or ran through our campsite area. Ice and firewood were available for purchase near the 24-hour pay showers and small laundry room. There are lots of good trails nearby that you can walk to from the campground, or are just a short drive away. The campsites do vary a lot from mature woods, meadow with some trees to sites with grass only and no trees.

Clean facilities, good stock in the store. Sites were a little bit closer together than we expected, not a lot of room for a huge tent, but a good experience overall!

I've been to Big Meadows several times and never left disappointed. Despite the size and density of the campground, it blends nicely into the park and feels far from civilization, though the facilities are convenient. I took my kids this time, and they were amazed at the starry sky. The campground was a great launch pad to get to multiple hikes in the park (Bearfence Mountain, Hawksbill, Rose River Falls). Success!

No showers in the campground. There are multiple bathrooms, but no showers-except for ones near the entrance you have to pay for with a bunch of quarters. Also very few locations to wash dishes so many campers had to wait in line to wash a few things after an evening meal. The campground really needs to be upgraded and water lines run so its not so primitive.
