We were a little worried about going during the shutdown but Shenandoah has it on lock! Everything was clean and the campsites were monitored. Great time!

Ranger was just leaving for the day when I arrived. She gave great recommendations for a site. Never saw the host but was aware they were there. Clean and well maintained.

Big Meadows is a convenient campground for the park and has good amenities and proximity to visitor center. Weak wifi is available at the visitor center. We loved the Old Rag hike but its a good hour drive away. I had mistaken the lookout on the map for the trailhead when selecting the park. The drive is beautiful, you just need to plan for it.

We had a site close to the bathrooms, which was nice. The bathroom facility has a dish washing sink, which is very convenient. It did back up once while we were staying there, but a maintenance worker fixed it promptly. We heard owls at night, but sadly no bears were to be found due to the mange that ravished their population.

Very good location to reach many points of interest. Composite space is spacious for trailer. We do not have trailer, but we use SUV tent connected to the rear lift gate. The rest room is clean, and has hot water. The campground has internet (LTE) signal. The shower and laundry facility, coin operated, walking distance from the campground. There is a trailhead at this campground. We definitely will come back to do camping here again.

Big Meadows has an excellent location within the park. Easily access trails such as Stony Man, Little Stony Man, Hawksbill, Dark Hollows, and Rose River. Gorgeous overlooks and pull-offs nearby to catch sunsets. Amenities were well kept. I would highly recommend this campsite! The drive to the Old Rag trailhead Monday morning was smooth and roughly 1 hour from the campsite, not bad!

Food choices in Lodge too few. The mundane choices that were available ,were too expensive.

Absolutely will come back and I won't leave anything on the picnic table, even to walk to the bathhouse...sorry about that trouble. I got it.
