Site 200 was fine but it contains some asphalt that is falling apart. Wish they would add electric as the generator use by other campers was somewhat bothersome when all the campers around us were using them at the same time, but only during posted generator hours. We use solar and lithium batteries so we do not use a generator. It was very cold at night so I recharging batteries is needed.

We enjoyed hiking, ice cream from the wayside and dinner on the balcony at the lodge. Even though it was a heat wave for the rest of the area, the elevation made for a perfect summer getaway!

Wonderful campsite in a beautiful spot right along the AT. Appreciated the relaxing environment with close access to the trail, and proximity to great spaces for stargazing

Having Starbucks in the Big Meadows Lodge defeats the purpose of getting back to rustic nature of the Shenandoah.

A short stay but a very nice campground. Hiked to Lewis Falls and will definitely come back for more fun! My husband had hiked the Appalachian Trail years ago and took me on parts of the trail!

This is our fifth visit to the campground and no two have been the same but it is always a welcome getaway. It was particularly cold that weekend of September 21, 2020 - 35 degrees at night. We were able to reserve on the F loop where it's more flat. F200 was easily maneuverable for our 39-ft Winnebago Journey.Drove to Rose River Falls hike as well as Milam Gap to hike to the Hoover Encampment. Have hiked both previously and the cool weather certainly helped with the mild-to-moderately challenging hike for us who are not athletic and are 55-65. Walking sticks recommended for the uncoordinated. We didn't get to have blackberry ice cream this time around but it is highly recommended you get a few scoops when you visit Big Meadows, either at the diner at the visitor's center or the lodge.
