Big Meadows is a campground in the "center" of Shenandoah National Park. It is a "standard" National Park type campground. In the peak of summer it can be like a little city.

It's a nice campground. The site had an amazing view of the sunrise in the morning which was awesome but the site itself was not the best, the ground was very gravely (not the best site for tents). Overall, a nice site but best for a small camper van or the like.

Gorgeous view in the spring of the ridge before the leaves come in! Right off the AT in a very secluded part of the campground. Only issue is there arent any flat places to put your tent on the grass, only the gravel near the bear box.

Loved the fact that there was a view of the mountains from this site! Compared to others nearby, it was relatively small...there wasn't even room on the side of my van sliding door to put out an outdoor rug. But there was room behind the van for a screen tent and there were 3 trees on which we could hang two hammocks, perfect for watching the sun go down. We did not expect showers so did not try them. Bathrooms were fairly clean. Amenities in the park are fantastic for campers.

Wonderful campground! Well maintained, nice facilities. Neat ranger programs at the Amphitheater.

This spot has to be one of the best camping spots in all Shenandoah. It's right behind the Appalachian trail which even around the park is pretty challenging, but fun. It has great views, is super quiet, and is close to a lot of sites.

Overall a nice scenic campground despite the size. A few things need attention though. Asphalt parking pads At sites are breaking up and have not received maintenance in quite some time. Only one set of Showers And they are located at the entrance to the campground. they are cncesssion managed and arent open until 9am which precludes their use if you want an early morning start to your travel day, very odd and inconvenient not to many they are the most expensive Ive seen at $1.75/5 mins.
