Many of the campsites at Big Meadows can be quite close next to each other. A087 was no exception, however, there is a lot of tall shrubbery and grasses at the back and right side making it feel quite private. Only one side was left exposed to the connecting neighboring campsite which really was not a big deal at all. We even had deer come through the campsite in the evening, eating grass around our tent. Around 10PM, there was a skunk passing by... We had an extra large tent (14ftx10ft) and there was plenty of level space for it. Enough grass left over to, probably, pitch a few other tents. Driveway is also level enough for an RV. Restrooms, utility sink and trash bins are just a short 2-minute walk down the street. Very convenient. We had T-Mobile and it is the only network that has coverage at Big Meadows campground - and it was pretty fast too.

I LOVE everything about the Shenandoah EXCEPT those ridiculous overpriced showers. $5 for ten minutes and the showers aren't very clean and it's annoying when you put in $5 worth of quarters and the danged thing doesn't work. There's RARELY someone at the local camp store to sell you firewood or ice so you have to go to a nearby lodge to purchase these items. The ice machine at the lodge is barely functional, the ice melts rapidly and should the Shenandoah get these items back to normal it would be a much better experience.

Big Meadows is a gorgeous campground! It’s peaceful, full of nature, the lodge and other facilities were fantastic!! Our only negative was that we camped on Loop A, and we had a LOT of cars driving by all the time. Apparently A is kind of the Exit road. Otherwise we absolutely cannot wait to go back!!!

Everyone at the campground was friendly and respectful. Regular camp rounds by park rangers and friendly staff. Roomy sites and great location. Great experience.
