We just spent 4 nights at Big Meadow Campground in Shenandoah National Park in Stanley Virginia . The rest rooms were heated, had warm water and were clean. You are boondocking as there are limited services. The season had not yet started so water was available at limited locations. The camp store was well equipped and this was great because you are a distance from any store! They even have a grill during the day but the Lodge is closed until the season starts. There is firewood, laundry and hot showers. The showers are in seperate rooms and require $5 for 10 minutes. Hubby and I were able to share the time and the water was just warm enough! We did lots of hiking and the wild flowers were coming into bloom. It was a great way to unplug and be in nature since cell service is very limited. We are told that T Mobile would get signal but forget Verizon unless you are at a pull off vista! We enjoyed our stay and will return!

Site has full sun most of the day, which wasn’t a problem in May as nights were still chilly. Site has a pretty good gradient, but wasn’t so bad we couldn’t level trailer.

Enjoyed a 4 night stay in May in our 25' motorhome. A64 was quite private and almost level. Deer grazed in the field across from us - fun to watch. Options for hiking at Big Meadows are really good. The laundry and shower facilities looked good, although we didn't use them. The Visitor's Centre is really interesting and just a short bike ride (or longer walk) from the campground. Skyline Drive is very scenic!
