I think the number of restroom facilities was not sufficient for the size of the campground. I also think the shower facilities were too expensive .

Big Meadows Campground in Shenandoah National Park was a lovely place to spend the weekend camping in the late fall. The campground was quiet, well maintained, and the staff were friendly and professional. Hikes on the trails had just the right balance of fellow hikers, wildlife, and gorgeous vistas. We really appreciated the WIFI at the visitor's center as cell reception is spotty at the campsites and we had a granddaughter with a birthday who needed to be serenaded with the birthday song!

We booked one night at the Big Meadow Campground. We had beautiful weather and enjoyed our visit. A lot of the campsites are not totally level for an RVit helps to bring wheel chocks for a level sleep.

I came to photograph the stars/Milky Way at Big Meadows, probably the closest destination to DC for dark skies. I love being out around the Meadow at night! The campground was roomy and clean and the restrooms were spotless.I sure wish the Wayside would go back to custom breakfasts but I guess it's an economic thing.

It was camping in a parking lot. No buffer between sites. No greenery or privacy. The water was turned off. Obviously designed for one night stay. We,ve camped all our lives (we are in our 60s), this might be the worse ambience. The NP drive was lovely.
