We Love the Park, but the Big Meadows campground offers sites with no privacy. We love the park, but can't recommend Big Meadows

Shower maintained by private company, so park staff cant help when you have an issue. Showers didnt have a cost labeled so you randomly have to keep feeding quarters until it starts. Ended up to be $5which is crazy expensive.

This is a very large, very well-kept, and run campground. I was traveling the Shenandoah National Park Skyline on a motorcycle and luckily was able to secure a tent campsite that same early weekday. The ranger in the office helped me find just the right campsite, for me and my motorcycle and too much travel gear. Met some good people at the campground near my campsite. I was just a short walk to the very clean flush toilet/bathrooms. The water was potable/drinkable from the outside faucet near the bathroom. Con: There was a dog barking at about 10:00 PM, but shortly after things became quiet. It was a very enjoyable overnight experience. Woke up, took a hot $5 shower(near the campground entrance) in the morning, packed up, and with the assistance of another ranger I was on my way headed south to join up with the Blue Ridge Parkway. Kudos to the Campground host, and rangers. and crew.

Great clean campground. Lodge tap room a great feature for campers. Some camp bathrooms need an upgrade

We had a wonderful time at Big Meadows campground. We were happy to find out that there was a laundry facility and pay showers! $2.50 for 5 minutes. There’s also a gas station that has diesel fuel and a eat camp store. A lot of items that would come in handy for hikers on the AP. We hiked Lewis Falls trail that goes along the AP for a few miles very rocky but fun.
The Big Meadows Lodge offers full dining or snacks and there is a bar downstairs that has live music. There are a lot of FF campsites for both rv’s and tents. The views are amazing. We would definitely return!

The campsite ground is dirty with long grasses and weeds. There is no regulation for RVs. RVs should stop using AC during quiet time and there is strict rule for that.

Other then the restaurant at the country store being closed and lack of staff and service at the lodge, it was a nice trip.
