Campgrounds were clean and quiet.. Lodge was a great place to charge up phones and get warm. Taproom was great for a beer and some entertainment. Hikes were amazing

We decided spontaneously to camp at Big Meadow when we saw that the campground was not full. The woods, meadow and roadsides were at the peak of summer wildflowers and unforgettably beautiful. Everything about it was wonderful. The site had privacy, was flat, restrooms conveniently located, and well maintained. The ranger led walk/talk explaining Big Meadow was full on facts about the plants, animals, geology and CCC history. Visiting the lodge was the perfect place to view the sunset and enjoy a delicious dinner of seared trout.Only wish we'd had more time there.

Wood is pricy, 21 dollars for two bundles, bring your own USDA inspected wood. Fill up your water at visitor center before getting into campground, no where to get your RV to fill up. Showers are 5 dollars for 10 minutes. We wanted to stay an extra day, plenty of people left early and there were open sites and it was frustrating we couldn't because people don't check out or cancel reservations. There is no refunds, the NPS could drive extra revenue by being able to rent those sites out to those who would be there to use them too.

Nice campground. Firewood sold there is terrible. Won't burn. Sites are fine. No cell coverage except at Lodge. Short walk. Pay showers are in one spot. Can be a long walk. Overall nice campground.

Despite a bit of construction equipment on the roadway, we had a wonderful time at Big Meadows Campground. The weather was perfect and refreshingly cool at night, the wildflowers and views were enchanting.

It was a great visit and my daughter and I enjoyed ourselves a lot. The only negative was that the sites are a bit closer together than I like, but it was still Good.

Just finished riding over 1000 miles out to Big Meadows Campground and back for a solo motorcycle camping trip. I arrived around 3P to check in and the ranger at the check in booth was very helpful and explained the food storage policy and camp guidelines very well.I made my way to my campsite A89 and although it was basically in the middle of the campground, it still felt somewhat secluded from the neighbors.I spent two nights there, riding Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway on my motorcycle during the day, and then returning to camp in the early evening - making a fire and just enjoying myself.I would highly recommend this campground!
