Well maintained campground. Clear view of the sky at the edge of meadow. Nice to be away from parking area. Still awakened by trash truck. Fire pit below ground. Ditch present between picnic table and tent site which is a fall hazard.

I have been going to Big Meadows for about 8 years. This year was my last. We had a storm (nothing they could do about that) but that was on Thursday night. They lost power and had no contingency plan in place for power. A bag generator that failed. They did not have 1 person clearing limbs and debris that was spread all over the campgrounds. I rented the cheapest room at the lodge for $185 (with military discount) for 1 night. They advised that the power should be up and running approximately 2pm Friday. Later they advised 8pm Friday. Then later 2am Saturday. Power wasnt restored until after 8pm Saturday. They had no hot water and no electricity the entire time of the room rental and refused any kind of rebate/discount for the inconvenience. I had already rented the camp site which was flooded. Sunday when I checked out of the park, it was still covered in debris.

I loved the campground along with the amount of wildlife viewing it provided. My only complaint is how expensive it was to use the showers.

As always, campground was clean, well organized and staff was very friendly. Cell service was worse than last year but it is camping after all.

Overall a great stay. Clean facilities and friendly staff. Campsite was clean and well maintained but lacked shade.

This camp site was wonderful! The bathrooms were so clean, I was amazing! We had a walk to site, and it was spacious, clean, and absolutely perfect! I will so be back next year! Staff was kind and helpful, check-in was super easy!My only complaint was that when we had to purchase more firewood, we were send to the lodge. The firewood was damp from rain and we were unable to have a fire... I wish the firewood had been stored somewhere dry. It was a short, sad, chilly night without a fire.

This was my first experience at Shenandoah and I was not disappointed. Park was perfectly maintained and we always felt safe. Hiking was excellent, trails well marked and the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The Lodge was a wonderful retreat when you needed a brief reconnect with comfort when primitive camping.
