We had a wonderful trip! The campground is clean and the sites are very nice. Ours was ringed with shrubs which added a bit of seclusion. The restrooms are all placed. It would be nice if each one had a utility sink, but the walk wasn't bad. The showers were clean, although $5 for 10 minutes was a bit steep. I need less than half that time to get clean, so maybe the option for half the time, half the price? Saves on water, too. Katie ran the camp store; she's great and was super helpful! Lewis falls is by the amphitheater, a worthy hike and an amazing view. Also, Rose River falls is fairly close. By far my favorite hike in Shenandoah so far. Can't wait to go back!

Big Meadows is a clean and well run campground. Even though it was high season we saw few others on our hikes. The improvements to the Wayside are very impressive. The rangers could not be friendlier.

Big Meadows was well located for lots to do. Great walkout hiking network, ranger programs, camp store, food store (including hot food) and visitor center with excellent ranger support all convenient to get to. Campsite a delight as well.

We really enjoyed out stay in the Big Meadows campground at Shenandoah National Park. We had a walk - in site that was secluded and peaceful. The campground is close to trailheads for several really enjoyable hiking trails with varying degree of difficulty. Cell phone coverage was spotty in the campground but we were able to get good cell phone reception in a pull off area about 1/4 mile north of the campground entrance along Skyline Drive.

The campsite was perfect! We took our grandchildren 3 and 5 years old. The deer were everywhere eating on the grass. The butterflies landed on your shoulder. The sky lit up with stars at night! The Dark Hollow Falls hike was amazing! The kids loved playing in the pool at the bottom of the hike and the two bears on the way back could not have been more endearing. The bears were close enough to cause us concern but they were more interested in following their nose to notice us. A very exciting, pleasurable experience. It was our first camping experience with the grands and we are hooked. We will be back, although, I am not sure we can top this trip.
