First Time at Shenandoah and first US national park and the experience was fantastic. We arrived a little later than expected on our first day and some campground employees recommended black rock for sunset, which was a fantastic spot maybe a twenty minute walk from our site. Big meadows was incredibly accommodating, and the small store/lodge/facilities were super clean and people had great recommendations for the park. We were lucky to catch the park in peak foliage season, and I couldnt recommend it enough. Its worth the trip just for the views from Skyline Drive, and the hikes were absolutely amazing. Hawksbill summit for sunset is fantastic and not too long of a walk from the upper Parking. White oak canyon was a good bit longer, and the views of the waterfalls and streams were magnificent. My favorite was bearfence, which included a really fun rock scramble and overall the best view in the park. Its a 360 degree view over the mountains and valleys, and the photos and videos we got were breathtaking, they made all my friends and family jealous of our trip. You gotta check it out! The folks all throughout the park do a wonderful job keeping things clean, serving up good food when you arent in the mood to cook at camp, and offering advice on filling up your time while youre there. Great Job Park Service, well be back!!

Great experience at Big Meadows last week. Check in was very easy. Park Rangers were very helpful. Brian came to check out our cooking grate for us, and didn't shame us at all for not realizing how it worked. The ranger at the station offered to take my post cards up to the mailbox at the lodge on his next trip that way. Plenty of firewood for purchase. Really good reinforcement of use of food storage bins due to bear activity. Sites do not feel on top of each other (we were at site 12). Really good sanitization of bathrooms and public facilities. Highly recommend.

We loved the campsite. Everything was convenient to get to. Scenery and hiking was top notch. What a great Columbus Day weekend we had!
