We stayed in site 52, which was a walk to site. It was not hard to get to and was perfectly tucked away and private HOWEVER it was connected to the AT and we had upwards of 20 ppl walk THRU our campsite while we were there - it felt intrusive and constant despite us asking folks not to walk thru the middle of the site and blocking the little path with a cairn and log. Overall Big Meadows very nice, nice bathrooms and showers etc but I would not stay in site 52 again.

I love being there when it's so quiet (11/18). The number of deer wandering around out-numbered the people there. My bathroom was clean and warm and I had it all to myself!

The camp sites are way tooo close together . We heard conversations of all of our neighbors like we were sitting next to them. We had trail access from our site , which was cool for us. Until we had hikers just walking through our camping set up , it would have been nice if there was a sign that let others know its not a public trail and its a campsite . There is a lot of wild life which is nice, but definitely dont leave your food out . Showers are $5 for 10 minutes . Pretty ridiculous if you ask me . The whole big meadows is just a giant money pit. 10$ for small pieces of wood that burn within the hour . I dont know the exact area but if youre leaving the campground make a left on the main road , drive it all the way down to the first exit off the mountain, make a right and go straight into town . There is a cute old red pick up truck with fire wood. $7 a stack , I filled up my whole backseat for $21 , the wood lasted me 3 days. I wish this campground cared more about the appearance of the area and kept up with the cleanup of the forest rather then just trying to make a buck off everything . Never again will I stay here . Id rather drive the extra 40 minutes and stay somewhere more kept up.
