We enjoyed a site farther back from the road that required a bit more walking but was totally worth it to be away from RV noise and close to the meadow. Lots of deer browsing around the area. Site was spacious and had a good flat area for the tent. Despite the shutdown, bathroom was cleaned and stocked and the check in was smooth.

Very nice and quiet campground. Its huge! It was completely full when I was there, but it still wasnt too loud or crowded feeling. From behind my campsite I could watch mother and baby deer grazing in the forest. The only complaint I have is that the showers cost $5 for 10 minutes (taking only quarters) and there is only 1 shower house at the very entrance of the campground. From my campsite it was a solid 10 minute walk to the shower house. The lodge up the road had good breakfast.

Walk-in sites are spaced well from each other, but near enough to the restrooms that were clean. A couple RVs ran generators, but they shut down after dinner time. Very quiet and peaceful campground. Elevation and weather made it perfect for virtually no condensation on the tent and no sign of mosquitos or other biting bugs when we were there.

We booked a large, walk in site that was very private. Bear box was large, but not lockable and hopefully they will be replacing this or updating it with a lock. Great staff and amenities and oddly quiet for the week of July 4th. Proximity of the lodge is a plus, plus the Wayside where we snagged a delicious smash burger after a very long day's hike. Love Shenandoah National Park and the multitude of hiking options.

Very well put together campground. Had a walk in site. Deer walking near camp as well a Doe with their fawn as well!

Campground was great as usual. Although very crowded it was very quiet. Restrooms were clean. No complaints. All employees were courteous.

When we arrived, the site was clean and ready to get started. We had a beautiful visit to SNP. We made our way over to Old Rag mountain, and had perfect weather for our day hike. It was very peaceful and relaxing while we were there. We are definitely planning another trip this year. The only issue was lack of cell coverage (Verizon), but we were able to get reception when we visited the lodge. I must say though the lack of cell coverage was not an issue for me. Disconnect and enjoy your vacation. :)

You need to purchase wood to burn. IT CLOSES EARLY! After hours wood available at the gift shop next to the lodge which is not very convenient for thru hikers as it is very far and the bundles don't even have handles to carry. Other than that the stay was very nice with fire pits and bear boxes. My stay was in a remote tent site and it was very nice! Potable water available to refill.
