Facilities were very nice. Campsite itself was pretty nice, rocky, but we did find a nice flat, less rocky place for our tent.

Campgrounds are beautiful but thats basically it. There is nowhere to buy simple things you need day to day. If you forget something you have to drive about an hour back out of the park to the closest town. The real problem were the park rangers. We received a written warning for leaving a bottle of lighter fluid out. We got yelled at by another ranger when our dogs leash slipped out of my hand while hiking. The ranger reprimanded me for my dog being loose. Its big brother out there and does not feel like the wilderness. Weve camped in a lot of the west coasts national parks and never have we had a problem until we camped here. My husband has combat PTSD and was triggered by the park rangers. He always felt like he was being watched. We left after one night and drove home because the campsite and the park itself were overrun with park rangers on a power trip and nowhere to really feel like we were out in the wild camping. We will never be going back to camp at big meadows or Shenandoah park itself.
