My partner, dog, and I stayed here early october for 3 nights. We loved it. It was close but not too close to bathrooms and other campsites. Definitely big enough for 2-3 tents if you have the need. In the morning, I would take the dog on a walk, and we would see tons of deer. We enjoyed coming back in the late afternoon and seeing deer lie down near our site or on the way to the big meadows store. Other creatures were up and about as well. The small store by the main restrooms/showers had plenty of firewood. The firepit has seen better days but it got the job done. We would stay again!

My camping trip was very nice. At check in you have to sign certain spots and write your vehicle down. Im stubborn and dont wear my glasses and admitted to the ranger. Who was glad to help show me where I needed to sign.A few good things about this campground is IIF youd like to park your car and leave it there are a few good hikes to walk to if thats what youd like to do.Lewis Falls, the Appalachian trail, Dark Hollows falls, Big Meadows ( itself) and Rose River ( depending) are walkable hikes.Dark Hollows you cant have dogs on though. Its a beautiful area and sunrise depending on your campsite is so amazing. Deer like to come by some sites and snack on things as they pass through the area..I highly recommend this campground. You seriously cant go wrong.I will be back when I can make the time. Such a beautiful area and it feels like home to me.:)

October is a great season to camp. Fewer people in cooler weather mean less campfire smoke! Big meadows is pretty central to the many hikes, but I prefer the few hikes that go uphill first, like Mary's Rock and Hawksbill

Very crowded and busy. There was no signage of when the store closed. Needed a coin machine by the bathroom that accepts credit card.
