The sites are very large and well spaced, with both shade and sun. Vault toilet was clean. Bear box available if tent camping. Perfect setting along the river and the McCloud Falls waterfall trail. Great location in the midst of the beautiful Mt. Shasta area! There are so many things to do! You can hike or drive to the three falls. We also enjoyed Lake Siskyou, and Burney Falls/Lake Britton. In the summer, you can also access Lassen National Park and the Medicine Lake area. The area is just far enough off the beaten path to escape the crowds while still close to I-5. In the nearby town of McCloud, there are grocery options, Siskyou Brew Works, ice cream, and an RV dump site for a fee at the McCloud RV Park. One thing we tried didnt work out - the new rail trail for bikes has deep gravel that made it too difficult to ride. Very large tire bikes might work.

Campsites were pretty big with not a lot of privacy. The grounds were pretty open which made it easier to see all the other campers. Bathrooms were clean and the trails were nice. We had a really bad problem with meat bees. The ranger said its just this time of year, but it didn't look like the other campers were having the same problem.

Well maintained campground. Level camping spots. Enough amenities. Easy for families, beginner campers. Friendly co-campers

The location and proximity to hiking and waterfalls (which were overflowing with water) was great. The bathrooms often lacked toilet paper and were not clean. There was no camp host when we camped there in June 2023, so you had to travel to McCloud to get firewood. Had some noisy neighbors that allowed their dogs to continuously bark. This behavior went unchecked because there was no one monitoring the campgrounds in any fashion.

Can’t beat the location on the McCloud River within hiking distance of the Lower Falls; campsites have natural beauty in this forested location. We did not feel crowded by other campers. Folks camping were respectful and there were no loud parties when quiet hours began. There was only one restroom to service our loop; garbage collection was in the same area. We biked to Middle and Upper Falls. The hike to Middle Falls from Campground is well traveled but worth the climb.. Hike to Lower Falls is an easier hike on paved trail. The Falls this year were spectacular. River was too cold for swimming June, 2023.

What a beautiful campground. Good space between the sites and the vibe was more family oriented. Fresh water tap near the campsites the only drawback was the pit toilets. Overall a great campground and we will return.

Nice to have camp hosts on site. Roads and walkways need fixing. Have to walk a distance to dispose of trash.

Very nice campsites, most are fairly private. The outhouses were not as smelly and better maintained than in past years. The river was low but beautiful as always.
