The grounds were maintained, clean and clearly marked for locations up in the mountains

Site 22 was amazing. Cold springs camp ground as a whole is amazingly beautiful. Definitely recommend sites 22-30 because theyre right next to the water. The drive up to the campsites is very narrow, be prepared for a long and slow drive up the mountain. There are many great hikes walking distance from the campground with beautiful views. Definitely pack for cold weather, the sites are shaded so it gets very cold. Overall, such an amazing trip and worth the drive.

After hiking all day, we had dinner in Three Rivers. At around 8:30 we started heading to the campground, to which we arrived by taking this narrow road at the speed limit of 10 mph in the vicinity of Three Rivers. It took us an hour and ten minutes to get to the campground. We kept gaining elevation by the minute and was completely dark. My headlights would barely give me the light i needed to follow the road, but it was a little difficult to see ahead of you especially by the curves. By the way, they were more than a hundred curves with a dark and deep cliff beside you. I enjoyed the Fresno radio station, that i can say despite the tense journey to the top of the mountain. When we got there, it was this remote campground. I could hear the river, but not see it in the darkness. We found our campsite, and laid the tent. We had a bonfire and then went to sleep. When i woke up i saw the river finally, and the place was wonderful. It had a few beautiful hikes with spectacular mountain views. It was lovely up there. Harder to drive up there at night, but on our way down it was more relaxes as i was able to see the road better. Just need to be careful with the road and the cars going on the opposite direction.

This is a BEAUTIFUL campground. Its extremely lush, has great tree-cover, and running water through it. Its also conveniently located right next to the MK ranger station for anyone that has to pick up wilderness permits. The only thing I wish Id known about beforehand was the 21-mile winding, single-lane road to get here. Somehow missed that it wasnt off of the main park road. Regardless, this campsite was great and was a great place to stay before hiking down to Hockett Meadow for a couple nights.
