The road up to Cold Springs is very difficult. Narrow, winding and steep. Meeting another car coming the other direction is terrifying. But the campground is terrific! Great hiking trails nearby.

The campsite is nestled along the most beautiful creek and has a lot of space between campsites. Trail to mineral king trailheads from the campsite is simply stunning! Lots of wildlife. The road in is a bit treacherous, so make sure your vehicle is in good working order before attempting the steep climb up the one lane road. Use your lower gears on the way down to save your brakes.

Really nice campground in great location near Mineral King ranger station and not far from the main trailheads. Just be aware several of the sites are oddly shaped and the car space / tent space / bear locker / table are some distance apart, e.g. site 12, which is also very steep.

Loved camping here!! Make sure to give yourself extra time on the way up, take it slow, be safe. Campsite #12 is on a hill but has level tent pads. It would be nice if the bear box and picnic table were on the same level. Plenty of shade and clean restrooms (vault toilets so there can be some smell at times).

Campground is well maintained, in good condition. Friendly rangers.

The campground is secluded, well maintained, and close to plenty of trails and wilderness. The sites are decent size, but they are also very close to each other. Even in the midst of a dry summer, the creek was running with cool water.Site #12 (where I stayed) should be marked as a "walk UP" site. It is literally up a steep hillside from where you park. Everything needs to be hauled up this hill. It's not a trivial annoyance. The bear box for your food storage and the picnic table are not near each other. The picnic table sits higher up the hillside on another level. Any time you need something from the bear box, you need to trudge down and then back up again. If the site had just marked appropriately on this reservation site, I'd have at least known what I was getting into. Sites #12 & #13 are smaller than average, as well.

First of all the ranger was so rude. As for the camp site it was the most awful camp ground we have ever stayed at. We camp out of our SUV and the camp site was not level at all. We had to run our vehicle up on rocks to get level enough to sleep that night. The picnic table and bear box was on a 90 degree hike up to them from the vehicle. Needless to say we paid for two nights and only stayed one night. We will never come back to this camp ground again.
