Friendly, safe campground with great access to river and nearby attractions. Unfortunately you can hear occasional sounds from the highway across the river.

We were able to setup our tents behind the large boulder a little off the path. That gave it a whole beautiful experience since we couldn't see the cars and other campsites around. Very helpful camp host. We arrived in the middle of rain, so the firewood was damp and the weather was not on our side, but being next to a flowing river makes this campsite very unique.

We book our camp site online not expecting much in regrades to a great experience. But when we arrived late at night the bathrooms were in good shape with plenty of toilet paper on the roles. The camp site care taker is very helpful and responsive. Anything you need to know he will do his best to assist. I will gladly return to this site for camping again.

It was an overall good experience! The camp host was really nice as well. The water smelled really weird though. I didnt trust it.

Took the family last weekend for a one night camping trip at #26. At first sight it seems as though it’s waaay too small to set up camp and after talking to the host, he showed us that climbing up a bit on the site there was an entirely different area which was part of the site big enough to fit our 2 tents. The host was amazing and seemed to really enjoy his job. But unfortunately my one complain was the loud music our neighboring site had all night. We go camping to get away from people like that then you run into them. Definitely left a complaint with the host but was still a fun camping trip nonetheless. Will definitely come back

I have camped a lot of different places. This campground has the cleanest and best smelling toilets I have ever encountered. The host, Kenny, was welcoming, helpful, industrious and loved the campground. That makes such a difference. He is a keeper.

This was my first time camping in the Kern River district of Sequoia National Forest. I had previously had reservations for Headquarters campground but due to the flooding along the Upper Kern river the campground was closed and so I had to make a reservation on the Lower Kern. Upon arriving at Sandy Flat I was not very optimistic as the road into the campground was in serious need of repair, but after getting to my site I was pleasantly surprised at how well kept the campground was. My site was just the right size for my 16' pop up and tow vehicle. The camp host Ken had just started working at the CG and was very accommodating and made several trips through the CG daily to ensure that everything was going well. Restrooms were always clean and well stocked. All in all a great 2 day visit. I will be returning again. Thanks again Ken for all your help and information about the area.

When we arrived, about 7pm the site host was not available and arriving at the prepaid booked site we found another couple setting up.
They agreed to move back to their site, and the camp host arrived nearly 2 hours later and asked us to sign in the following morning.
We duly went at 9am while leaving but we’re asked to come back later. We ended up leaving after one night due the the weather and smoke.
Be aware the toilets are NOT flush and there are NO showers
