Camp host was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area, campsites were clean, access to multiple points of the river

We loved this site! It was large and had plenty of room to spread out. Large enough to set up multiple tents. It was the closest site to the river. It was close to the restroom but not too close. The water spigot is next to the bathroom. Bathrooms were super clean. It definitely is close to the next site, but if you situate your tents far enough, you are not right next to each other.Being the closest to the water has its downside as this site is the one with water access. People were respectful not to walk through our site and go on the edge of the site. Will definitely return.

This campground was easy to find and runs near a creek. Unfortunately, we did not end up setting up camp and staying the night. When we pulled into the campground a medium sized unleashed dog ran up to our car jumping, barking and growling and following our vehicle. Apparently this was the hosts dog. He did not make any attempt to contain the dog and told us that eventually the dog would stop. We were told our campsite was not ready yet, so we looped around the campground and noticed that there was only one other group of campers there (at our site). The campground being completely empty and having a loose aggressive dog off leash running around the campground made us very uncomfortable, so we decided not to camp there.

The campground is kept up beautifully by the very friendly and helpful campground host. The host is easily accessable. Campsite 22 is a spacious campsite on the Kern and well suited for a trailer. While on the campsite map it doesnt look like campsite 21 is close to 22 they are super close so you can hear a pin drop from the neighboring site and therefore it ruins the camping experience for both parties in these sites.

Celebrated my birthday weekend here during St Patty's day weekend 2024 and had a wonderful time. Campsite 22 was a large flat area for all of our tents and gear and it was right next to the river. The camp host was super sweet and knowledgeable with the surrounding areas. Will definitely be back in the summer once the weather warms up.

Suggest arriving before dusk as the highway into the site is windy and cars tailgate frequently down the long stretch through Sequoia National Forest. Had to move to a different site as our site was already occupied when we arrived. However, it was very quite and a great place to spend the night. Nice flat area for tent and spacious.

Lovely, peaceful campground on the river with beautiful views. The campground host was friendly and helpful, and had a very sweet dog! Our 24-ft Sprinter had no trouble getting around and fitting into the site.

Definitely off season here! It was really sad to hear that Miracle Mile Hot Springs had been taken out. This is campsite was a great walking distance location to those hot springs, which was a major reason for booking here. Without the hot springs, this is still a great location. But without them, I'm not sure if I would book here again after visiting here twice already. We loved the campground, and the campground host has been very hospitable both times we've visited. The first time was late summer, and our visit last week was a very different scene. The last time was booked out, and this time we were only one of 3 camping groups. The cold weather, and the removal of the hot springs, has definitely affected the attendance here.

Bob our camp host was so kind and helpful. He greeted us when we arrived, answered questions and really kept on top of cleaning and maintaining the grounds. The site is gorgeous. We enjoyed watching the river and hearing its beautiful sound all weekend. The golden hour right before sunset was stunning, warm colors fell on the colossal rocks and layered landscape. Thank you Bob for such a great time! We will be back soon! :)

We have always enjoyed our visits to Sandy Flat.It is a lovely place on the Kern and the host was pleasant.I find the constant flow of trash and cigarette butts to be a turn off and clean up as much as possible while camping and hiking about.The neighbor beside us was very rude this time and it took a bite out of our enjoyment.Though their extra large dog was on a leash...it was a 25 foot leash. His lady was intent on teaching him to speak on and off during the day and started her lessons at 6 am right outside our trailer window. After he was rewarded, he spun in circles casting dust all over our area. Aside from that, we had a lovely getaway before wrapping up the summer.
