This was the first time camping at this campground and will definitely not be the last. We stayed at campsite #41 for 4 nights it is conveniently located near the restrooms which were kept nice and clean throughout our stay as well as a spigot for water needs. We also loved that Hume lake is just a short drive away from here I would say 20 minutes or so.

We had an amazing time at Princess Campground. Sites are located in the forest with some overlooking a beautiful meadow in Indian Basin. There is a lot of water moving through the meadow now. The air is filled with the sound of gurgling streams and song birds. I videotaped a lot of sections of the stream for when I need to get my zen on back home. The trails around the meadow were all dry and easy to navigate. If you continue out on the trail leading away from the parking lot, you'll find a stone outcropping. On the highest boulder is an indentation about 8" in diameter where Native women (please don't use the phrase 'squaw'!) would sit to grind acorns. Native flowers are just starting to bloom: White ceanothus, woodland strawberries, currants, gooseberries and most spectacularly of all were the broad swaths of irises throughout the meadow. Just gorgeous. Because of this moisture the mosquitoes are out, though easily managed with non-deet bug spray and Thermacell mosquito repellant at the campsite. Hume Lake is about 3 miles east of the campground. There is a snack shop (burgers, fries and milk shakes made with any of a good dozen flavors of hand scooped ice cream) and gas station in Hume Lake village. Both take debit cards. Saw lots of people kayaking, SUPing, etc. Note, the road to Hume Lake is not for the faint of heart. It is not wide enough for vehicles to easily pass, and there is no guardrail on the downhill side of the roadway. This didn't seem to bother the many drivers using the roadway. Also, note Hwy 180 east of the Hume Lake exit is still closed due to winter storm damage. We have Verizon and were unable to get service at the campground or Hume Lake. This was unfortunate as we had RV trouble with our leveling jacks and needed to drive up and down to Grant Grove Village to make calls troubleshooting the issue. Larry, the camp host, was super helpful with accommodating our need to stay on site, if necessary, to account for our inoperable RV.
