The Hume Lake campground is just down the road from a huge Christian camp. They have a cafe, small general store, and boat rentals there. Warning - they don't sell booze at the Christian camp. The food at the general store is limited to frozen meals and cans of beans. However, a short - kind of sketchy - drive up the hill to Grant Grove Village will provide another small restaurant along with a gift shop and a supermarket with lots of produce, snacks, and brewskis. The campsites at the front of the campground are small and not very private at all. The sites towards the back are nicer and more open. They are also super close to the Hume Lake trail!

This was our first trip to Hume. We usually camp out in Lodgepole, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find a campsite as well as increasingly busy. So we branched out after decades of Lodgepole camping.

The area is BEAUTIFUL. We loved our campsite (005) because we had space for tents, shade, close proximity to the bathrooms and decent spacing between campsites. The lake is a short drive away and Sandy Cove is lovely! We launched kayaks, saw others paddle boarding, the kids swam, all in all a great time.

The ONLY downside… the Christian camp gets loud, and when the campers are out on free time, it gets packed with kids. At night, we heard the amphitheater going well after 10pm. And while we are glad kids chose to be there and make those memories (several family members attended the Hume Lake camps in the past as well), it gets loud when the sounds are echoing through the valley and you have kids and adults trying to sleep.

Check the weather before you go, obviously, the campsites get a decent amount of breeze and at night it gets quite chilly.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and plan to make this our new yearly camping spot for our family. We have aunts, uncles, cousins, the whole crowd spread through multiple campsites and cabins. There’s enough availability and space for us all.
