Beautiful campground. This is the second time we've camped here & we'll be back! The spots all have nice trees and are a good size.

Great campground Would be even better if it had water. Just know that some of the sites are literally paved It gives her a nice flat surface but feels a little less camping. Its a great location for doing things in Santa Fe.

Nice spot close to Santa Fe. Lots of trails in the area and lots of space between camp sites.

Great campground, not too big, under 40 sites. Most sites are fairly secluded, clean and quiet.

Caterpillars are everywhere! We had to leave a day early, it just ruined the trip. Couldn't even sit outside at picnic table they were crawling up as fast as you swept them off. Should have been warned.

I don’t really like to share my comments because everyone will go there. It’s nice just the way it is.

Excellent campground surrounded by hills and beautiful pine trees. Good hiking trail that starts in the campground.

Very nice, wooded, quiet campground only 7 miles from Santa Fe. It is on a hill and there are no hook ups, camp water or dump Station in May. When Hyde Memorial CG opens in June there is a dump Station. Site #17 was too tight to maneuver my 36' 5th wheel into. So we moved to #26, which was perfect. Lots of hilly hiking trails but not for beginners.

Beautiful NF campground (Black Canyon). But no water and an a shared dump station that needs a paved surface!

This is a spectacularly beautiful campground. The spaces are far apart so you get lots of privacy. They are paved and the fire pit/picnic table area is paved and level. Several restrooms. There are no hookups and at the time we stayed there was no water available in the area. Well worth it to stay in such a lovely, heavily forested spot.

Nice campground and helpful host. Toilets were beyond stinky so avoid a site next to them if possible.

I have been camping at Black Canyon since 2010. This year was such a terrible disappointment due to the fact that all campsites were occupied by giant Rv s . This means THAT GENERATORS WERE RUNNING AND THERE WAS NO PEAcE AND QUIET TO BE FOUND, Furthermore the campground hostess was clearly not suited for th job. She terrorized the campground by cruising at a high rate of speed in her little golf cart with vicious dog chained to the back seat. She harassed the folks in the campsite next to me , did not turn off the motor so she had to yell to be heard, the elderly couple had invited their son to dinner, and the host told them they had to pay her for the extra vehicle at the site. This terrified my 4 yeat old granddaughter, especially the dog in the back of her cart as we walked down the road,

This is a very nice campground. The hilly terrain provides a nice third dimension to the layout that gives privacy despite proximity.

This is a beautiful campground and I would love to visit again if water was available. No where on the website does it state there is NO WATER. Other campers couldn't believe water wasn't available when they arrived. They would walk to the water valve for water by the vault toilets but no water available. A lot of them went back down the mountain and purchased water for their stay, luckily I had enough water for my stay. All most all of the sites are handicap accessible which is great, but to have no water is just unreal. I saw the camp host several times add toilet paper to the vault toilets only and they were never cleaned the four days I was there. It would be very difficult for the camp host to clean the vault toilets without water. The USFS should power wash the toilets very other day to keep them clean or provide water to the camp host so they can clean them especially during the current Covid times.... I would give this campground 5 stars if water was available and the vault toilets were cleaned. Hopefully the USFS will get there act together and get the water situation resolved.

This is a lovely spot with great simultaneous access to the Santa Fe Mountain area, and town. Overall a really great place for car camping - quiet and beautiful, with spacious sites. The two issues we had were, a) the hosts were not the friendliest I've experienced, and b) if you happen to be next to or down-wind from a latrine, it will wreck your experience.
