I stayed 2 nights, a week apart, and found the campground adequate, with minimal facilities. The pit toilet was relatively clean; there was no water anywhere on the site. The second night, I discovered my campsite inhabited by a man-- with his tent canopy erected, roaring fire, and all his stuff out on the table. He'd been there some time, despite the fact that the post clearly showed the site to be reserved by me. I asked him why he was in my campsite, and he pretended he didn't see the reservation paper on the post , and assumed it was first come, first served--- but he agreed to clear out ; it took about half an hour. Clearly there is no oversight here, and no way to assure that people cannot just camp wherever they want. Considering there is no water at all, it was definitely overpriced, but the location near Santa Fe was very convenient.

Lack of water has been an issue for years. We will look forward to the time it is resolved.

Campsite was a great size and beautiful area. Bathroom was close to #12 and enjoyed the convenience but not the smell. Firewood was easy to by in town at Whole Foods. Next time we would stay longer.

Wonderful campground. Firewood bundles available at Market Street, 15 minutes downhill at 600 N Guadalupe St .

Our last experience was not as good as usual. The host was pathetic. She was rarely on site. the bathrooms were dirty with urine on the floor and paper and dirt. The paper was empty for three days .They were cleaned once in the week we were there and it was only the floor, The trashcans were over flowing and some people were leaving bags by the containers, which is not good as it attracts animals. It is hard to do your job when you are not there. Our campsite had not been cleaned when we arrived and had about 50 cigarette butts. we have been camping there for about 10 years and we love it there, I feel it is a shame for one person such as her, to give this campground a bad name. I am sure many that were there with us may not return . It does not give me pleasure to criticise the host and the condition of the campground as this is not the usual conditions at Black Canyon, but I feel it is necessary in this case. I have also spoken to the supervisor of the forest service for Black Canyon. I have pictures of the bathrooms as a picture can show a thousand words. I will be returning in August and I hope the conditions are improved. We have been campers for fifty years so I do not expect home conditions, just clean bathrooms as we usually have there.

Love Black Canyon. Hope water is fixed in 2020 as there was none in 2019. The lack of water is a deterrent for many campers. This could be solved by having buffalo tanks as some other campgrounds provide.Hosts did not maintain campsites as in previous years and restrooms were not cleaned daily.we camp @ Black Canyon routinely throughout summer and have for past five years. However the last host in 2019 was not a friendly person and was a very aggressive individual. We heard this complaint from many of the other campers as well. We do have multiple reservations again this year and look forward to great camping as in the past. Finally, It is our hope that the state and the forest service will continue to work on having the "electricity" and water situation corrected in the near future.
