Serrano is a lovely campground and having full hookups (30 amp) in the Snowberry Loop is awesome. Sadly, the bad news is the electrical is NOT up to par on one side of the loop - and the camphosts are aware of this but powerless to do much except call an electrician. (The electrician was tired of his return trips to Serrano and places the blame on an antiquated system and inefficient power for the number of sites and modern RV's) Our site #37 had extremely sketchy power. Our surge suppressor threw us off-line, multiple times a day - without us running our AC! It appears that the power to section around us is at the "end of the line" - and it would drop below 103 volts, causing our surge protector to take us off-line, or risk damaging our electronics/electrical system. If you don't have a surge protector - you would never know. This made our week's stay challenging and frustrating.

This is an amazing campground. The staff is wonderful, helpful and so friendly. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. The Alpine Pedal Path is a great way to explore and also to get into town safely.

My wife and I have lived at the foothills of these mountains for thirty years, but never considered camping in Big Bear. Due to a change in a planned trip to Tahoe, we decided to give Serrano a try virtually at the last minute. What a great surprise it was! We have camped up and down the beaches of the west coast, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Georgia, New York and many places in between. Our experience at Serrano was among the best. The drive up the 38 went well, the Rangers and Camp Hosts were super friendly and informative and the facility is well kept. We were so happy with the campground, we have recommended it to all of our family/friends and it is now going to be part of our yearly camping rotation. These are tax dollars well spent!

Very nice campground! We have stayed here previously and will return again in the future. The hosts were very pleasant and welcoming. Most of the sites have great shade (lots of pine and juniper trees). Hookup sites are well spaced apart and very nicely maintained. Distance to the central shopping district at Big Bear is only a few miles. There are great bike and hiking trails easily access from the campground. The lake is within a short walking distance from the campsites (although the water level was still low this summer. Swimming was not advised due to the algae bloom). Fishing was best at the dam (the lake is stocked periodically). The nearby USFS visitor center was closed due to an on-going remodel but there was an information booth open with USFS volunteers who were very friendly and helpful.

We have made it a tradition to camp here over our spring break and absolutely love it. Site was very nice with open area big enough for adults to play cornhole and kids to ride their bikes and our site.
