We highly recommend you stay at Serrano. The camp hosts are friendly, helpful and they keep the site immaculately clean. It is adjacent to the lake and close to great hiking.

Overall Serrano is a beautiful park to stay in and I highly recommend it. The bike path around the lake was the highlight of our stay and there is a tiny grocery store within walking distance. The only improvement needed was at our site #56 there is a large step down right off our pad that was a tripping issue. Also it made it so we could not set up a sitting area under our canopy.

Serrano campground was one of the nicest SB National Forest grounds weve stayed in. The sites are clean & fairly large compared to most. The kiosk staff was fabulous, friendly & extremely competent in realizing she could adjust our reservation to make our stay far more enjoyable for the week plus duration. While there we found the grounds well kept & managed with maintenance & cleaning happening daily around us. The edges of the asphalt pads of many sites need some attention due to unavoidable weathering & usage. The electrical, sewer & water were all in working order & easily utilized in proximity to our padded rv area. Be aware that if fires are permitted they are a far distant from your rig so bring a separate can for propane fire rings. Rules ask that they be used next to the wood rings provided. Our quick connect from rig & 10ft house was not even a close to working situation. Lucky we had extra can of fuel. Know that these are not water front spots. There are 3 NO hook spots that have peek a boo views of the water from about 150 yards plus away. We took an easy walk many days of our stay around the lakes edge even kayaking two days. The lake portage must be permitted to be legal with inspection and small fee; the East Dock is only about 2 miles East of campground. West dock was closed and the Marina (main area is several miles away on the other side of the lake.) Inspection & fee was facilitated at the East Dock & Ramp. We are self contained so cant truly speak to bathroom and showers other than to say I did see staff cleaning them daily every morning. Also note trash is arranged in large city type bins in centrally located spots through out the large grounds. It may be a distance to walk for some at a higher elevation. We are in moderate shape & just kept in rig until a large enough bag warranted the walk 4 trash in the snow.:) Camp host are helpful, but not intrusive. Overall Id give this a 5 out of 5 & website truthful.

Very large sites spread through a forest of mature trees. Lots of wildlife and a helpful staff. I would strongly recommend camping at this location if you’re visiting Big Bear Lake.
