Its a very nice and clean campground. There are showers and flush toilets that are in working order. Jenks Lake is a short distance from the campground and there is a hiking trail that you can take from the campground to the lake. There are a couple of other trails to hike from the campground, as well. The campsites all have a fire ring and picnic table. You can gather your own wood for a campfire.

Camping is my therapy and I enjoy going to Barton Flats. The hosts are really nice people, the facilities are always clean. I usually camp mid week so not many other campers are there. There are a couple trails to walk. It's so quiet at night you can hear a pin drop. It's a great place to go for therapy and to get out of the everyday grind.

Rain and hail during our stay put a damper (pun intended) on our trip but we made the most of it by hiking to Jenks Lake and enjoying great conversations over the campfire. Would have given full stars if it wasnt for the rain/hail.

Such a beautiful spot! Gorgeous big trees, spacious campsites, and good amenities (like water, flush toilets, etc). We were there midweek so there was almost no one there, but outside of some children who were allowed to scream bloody murder (for no reason other than I assume their parents don’t understand quiet hours) from literally 5:30am to 8am, it was incredibly quiet.

Be aware of opportunistic crows that tear into trash bags to get a free meal. Stephanie saved our breakfast by finding a few extra eggs that she was nice enough to give to us and Bob offered to carry out our trash when we were leaving which is above and beyond his duties. Great camp hosts! Keep up the good work!

We only spent one night at the campground, but the location was beautiful and the hosts were very helpful and friendly. It's a little bit noisy when the campground is full, but everyone is minding their own business and being respectful. The only downside was that the road was closed only 6 miles from the campground highway 38 and, not knowing any better, we followed the road worker's instructions to backtrack all the way to the 330 and circle Big Bear Lake to approach the campground from the east. The hosts informed us that there are dirt/side roads that are navigable by a 2wd vehicle, with which we could have bypassed the wreck. Live and learn, I guess.

The campgrounds themselves were beautiful and clean. Unfortunately the camp hosts spoiled the entire trip with their bad attitudes and pestering. I've been camping every year for 10 years, even at Barton Flats before, and have never had such a horrible experience or been harassed more with any other camp hosts. I've never gotten a complaint from any other experience in a decade, but these hosts were so rude and aggressive that they kicked my group out before our reservation was through with no reimbursement. They need to hire new camp hosts for Barton Flats. People who actually respect and enjoy the nature and won't ruin it for the people paying to spend their time there. So sad since the area itself is beautiful

I have been to Barton Flats 2 times with my family. It is a great camping ground close to civilization but away enough to provide some privacy and is very peaceful. The site has been well maintained the Elise and her husband are great, actually, they were the one main reason we went back there and looking forward to the next trip this year. They are friendly, organized and good resources, information or other items you might need. Barton Flast has good sites, large and flat. There is is a bit of noise from the street but not too bad.
