Love the location. Most sites open up to nature. Camp staff are always helpful and friendly. If a particular camp site is loud they take care of it. I've been coming back to Barton Flats for 25 years.

Site #5 doesn't really have a nice flat surface to setup your tent. The least-sloped surface I found was still too steep and I ended up sliding down to the bottom while I was sleeping. Campground itself was great. My family had a nice time hiking during the day and relaxing by the fire at night. We'll definitely go back, but book a different site next time.

I love Barton Flats!!!! I've been coming here since my college days. Now I come annually with my family. The campground is clean and orderly along with the bathrooms and showers. Sites are big and open to a beautiful forest. Additionally, during the summer the local visitors center puts on great shows for my kids. I liked the one on bears. You can also set things up in advance with them if your bringing a scout troop. The shows are either at the visitors center or the amphitheater down the road. There is a great day hike to Jenks Lake. When I drove up in college we would drive into Big Bear for lunch. Happy Traveling
