The campsite was great and we are looking forward to going back next year. The only thing that would of been better is if there was a dump station for our trailers that is closer then Shady Cove.

Park host has her area completely roped off and looks like tent city. She's got a Rottweiler in the site that is not friendly. She blocks off one of the best fishing spots in the campground and won't let campers access it. She was 'off duty' every time we went by as well. When we did see her drive by, we asked her if we could buy firewood. She said why would she sell firewood when there is so much wood laying around. She advised us, and many other campers, that we could TAKE any wood, logs, sticks laying around for our fire. Even said we could bring a chain saw to cut the logs! We knew that wasn't ok, but other people were taking logs and cutting them. She also had the wrong check in and out times posted by her site. Very disappointed by her and the way she keeps her park host site. As well as advising people it's ok to take any wood out of the forest for personal use.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Farewell Bend. We were there Monday-Friday in our 27 foot motorhome. We had both site 35 & 36. Originally we planned to have friends occupy one site and wed have the other as they are less than 10 feet apart. Our friends backed out, but we kept both sites as they are so close together. I wouldn't recommend staying in only one site due to their close proximity. Overall, the sites are very spacious and reasonably level. Many, like ours, are right on the river. There's a lot of shade, but there was enough sun for my solar panels to fully charge my batteries by 4PM. The water spigot was only 20 steps away. There were several spots between campsites where you can be on the river without being on someone else's campsite. Road noise was minimal, mostly drowned out by the sound of the river rushing by. The bathrooms were clean, and the campground was well maintained. We hiked less than half a mile to Rogue Gorge, which is a fantastic site. I hiked about four miles to Natural Bridge. (Just take the Union Creek trail to the Rogue River trail.) That was even more fantastic! It was a great hike eight miles round trip. I even ran into a black bear about half a mile from the Union Creek campground, but it ran off as soon as I yelled "Hey bear!".
Overall we loved our stay at Farewell Bend. Were already planning for another trip later this year.
