Campground clean but crowded at the end of September. Pit toilet bathroom clean. Highly recom m end discussing shuttles and trails with staff at Visitor Center... I didn't have time to do this wen I arrived. Tried to use flyer provided at vehicle check-in station plus guidance from staff at campground to choose hiking trail but found it quite confusing... shuttles, accessing trailheads, etc. No wifi. Unlucky weather (very windy day then a windy, rainy night), an elevated campsite and very hard tent pad combined to make it a negative camping experience. Reserved the last available campsite several weeks before arrival (B175). Luckily big rocks were available at site to completely tie tent down... it was impossible to put in stakes. Experience would have been better if I'd had hard camper and more clear guidance on accessing trailheads. Oh well. Maybe better luck next year using info gained from this experience.
Great place to get away and relax. I had my dog with me and it was no trouble going or doing anything as long as I wanted to stay in my car. Absolutely perfect at night with the temps dropping into the 50s, just what I needed to get away from the Texas heat in August.

I really loved this spot as it wasn’t too close to any campsites and it faced the Moraine Paek beautifully, we were able to take bear lake road up to a beautiful hike

It was nice staying inside the park. Unfortunately our site was up on a ridge , so we cancelled our second night and did a hotel instead as bad thunderstorms came in the second evening. We had a nice view. Bathroom was a significant walk away, all downhill.
The campsite was great. A few loops (including the one I was on) had vault toilets only, while the other loops, open for the summer, had flush toilet “comfort stations” where you could also address your dishes. The campground is hilly, so be prepared to go up/downhill to get where you need to go.
My largest complaint would be that the bear boxes are shared, not always conveniently located, and sometimes your neighbors aren’t all that considerate about sharing. Otherwise, an excellent experience.
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
