The timed entry process is horrendous. 20 minute wait to get into the park, another 20 minute wait to get into the bear canyon (where the campground is), then another 20 minute wait to get into the campground because everyone checking in to camp has to wait until 1pm and cannot get into the park any earlier. They need to allow those with a campground reservation to enter the park at any time on the day of their reservation! The rangers only seem to appear when it is check in time and they dont know how to handle a long line of vehicles waiting to check in. They actually walked down the line providing information that took them about 5 minutes per car and literally held up the line making things much worse. They said they were out of campground maps, so they held up the line telling people to take a photo of the front and back of the single paper map they were holding. NOTE; after setting up camp I walked over to the ranger station and there was a whole pile of paper maps sitting outside there. Of course the ranger station was always closed. They seem to have no office hours. The sites are too close together and do not have any trees or bushes between them. Some of the sites have nice views. Its great that some sights have electric hookups, but none have water and the campground map water locations is not accurate. The campground was quiet when I was there and most people followed the rules, but for those breaking the rules it was a free for all because no host or rangers were ever around. The pit toilets scattered around the campground were reasonably clean. 2 bars of service on Visible (Verizon) allowing me to text and upload. The site pads are dirt/gravel and fairly level. The roads are paved and narrow. Dump is free and has potable water. DO NOT use the Moraine shuttle, the schedule is a joke, drive to park n ride and use the Bear Lake Shuttle. To see wildlife (Moose) get up early and drive to Sprague Lake, then catch the shuttle from park n ride

Nice site, but not a level driveway. Higher in the back. Could have been graded leveler. Surprising considering all the other improvements to the campground.

nice campground, rangers were helpful with any questions we had during our stay!

Our campsite was amazing. We had a picnic table, fire ring, small path up to a beautiful view and walking path. A stroll down the street gave us an amazing experience as we came across a herd of elk grazing and bedding between campsites. The rangers that checked us in were very nice. We have loved staying at campgrounds in the national parks . MORAINE campground was beautiful and so very convenient to the bear lake hikes.

I absolutely loved RMNP but did not have the best experience at the specific campground. I had a reservation for two nights with a national park pass which gave me a discount when I entered it on my camping reservation. On the second night when I entered the park the ranger was very rude and would let not us in because we had committed "fraud" my saying we had a 'access' national park pass when really it was just a regular national park pass. He charged us the extra fee that I was originally discounted with the pass and lectured us on how we were taking advantage of the park. He wanted to keep the national park pass and not give it back to us which obviously made me quite upset. In the end he gave it to us and said we were lucky to have met him as a ranger cause others would have confiscated the pass. The whole interaction put a pretty big damper on our stay, never mind the extra charge, the being lectured at was just horrible. Hope this does not happen to anyone else!
