For the first time in our lives we were able to camp at Moraine Park Campground during elk season. We absolutely loved being there but unfortunately had one evening where the only thing we could hear was our neighbors noisy generator. Opted to leave the campground the next night and watch the elk elsewhere.

Moraine Park Campground is my favorite campground in Colorado. I love the views, access to hiking, and being inside of RMNP! Site 238 Pros:View of moraine from tent pad is amazing.Access to water is across the road. Close to ranger talks at the amphitheater. You're in the campground!Cons:Pop-up or trailers? The site starts feeling congested with campsite moving into higher site #s.

Wonderful place to camp. Even though we were in tent sites only - we did not see many tents. The campers there did not run their generators past 10. Very quiet.

Beautiful scenery and close enough to town markets and restaurants if needed.

Loved camping at Moraine Park! We watched a herd of Elk in the valley below our campsite. Such a beautiful setting. The campsite was good. Mature trees, picnic table and a nice surprise to be able to have a campfire. Thankful fo all the rain. Bathrooms are only a short walk and an added sink just for washing dishes. Metal bear boxes are provided to safely store your food. Only wish each campsite had their own bear box to store food. We shared a box with three campsites. That was too crowded. The metal box is big enough for two sites to share, not three.
We enjoyed the beauty of Rocky Mt Nat Park. Hiked to Cub lake , Alberta Falls, drove Fall River Road up to the Alpine Visitor center and soaked up all of the glorious scenery.

Six months ago when I reserved a site on the view side of the C loop, I knew that it would not be as serene as #242 (my favorite -- well away from the road and RV generators). There were pleasant neighbors, which was nice. However, I sincerely wish the Park superintendent would request that #239 be permanently removed, as it is literally jammed in between 238 and 240, for no purpose other than to increase revenue! All the surrounding sites benefit from having ample space for tent campers to spread out. So by comparison, this site is cramped, even though it has a view (of sorts).
I love camping in certain campgrounds in the Park. But I was sorely disappointed that the managers kept Aspenglen CG out of circulation for the second year in a row!! (My favorite...) Perhaps it was decided there were too few personnel to go around. But Moraine doesn't compare to Aspenglen.
I greatly missed the ranger programs too. Best that we're able to move beyond Covid restrictions a.s.a.p.!

2nd season at Moraine Park CG and it was excellent again. Covid rules and nearby forest fires made our 2020 visit a bit different, but the staff was great and we worked thru any issues without a problem. Overall, outstanding.

The only negative thing i can think of was a long walk to bathroom and shuttle stop.

Bear Lake parking lot fills fast. Plan to arrive early in the day. Usually full by mid-morning.
