We chose Moraine Campground as it is close to where we could watch the elk rut. We were not disappointed. The campsites are well maintained. Bathrooms have running water and were clean.

I got this site 2 weeks out, so beggars can't be choosers, but it is a pretty good site. GREAT view of Long's Peak. Parking spot is near picnic table and tent pad. 100 yards from bathroom. Only downside is that you could throw a baseball and hit 5 other campsites.

Many sites are slanted, not level, or short for trailers.

We got a mojar rain and hail storm in the late afternoon but didnt detour our fun, still was able to have a camp fire afterwards, I love camping in Moraine it is always so much fun, and get to see lots of wildlife walking right through the camp sites

I feel a little bad giving this 4 stars. Moraine Park campground is a great location but clearly was not designed for what is now full capacity. I camped at the D loop for a full week. I was close to a bathroom/comfort station but with full capacity (which I think is constant during summer) you're very likely to be in a line to wash dishes. The men's room has a one urinal, one stall, and 2 sinks - so prepare for a line there as well even at off hours. I had probably 20 feet of space from the nearest two other tent pads, you're going to hear your fellow campers. Two bear proof containers were shared across 4 sites - plenty of room but an inconsiderate family had taken up an entire box to themselves the first day I was there. Bear proof trash/recycling was probably a 1/4 mile walk away, same for the solar shower stall for which there are only two in the entire campground, though I never waited in line there (My observation is short stays are more common for tent campers), a parking spot is provided so you don't have to lug your water all that way. As noted in their information, it's just a stall with a concrete floor, a drain, and a place to hang your shower bag (you need to bring your own solar shower bag). Something that surprised me is that the camping tag they give you on arrival is not sufficient to grant you re-entry to the park if you leave it. I fortunately have a national parks pass which did the trick but asked about this and was told you'd need a receipt for the entry fee (30 for one day, 35 for a week at the time of this writing) if you don't have a pass. The park is amazing but prepare yourself for the crowds. Popular sites like Bear Lake fill up quickly - if you want to park, be there by 6:30 AM. There is a good shuttle system but one day I attempted to go to the park and ride at noon and its substantial parking lot was also already full. I witnessed all kinds of bad behavior, please respect the park and the very basic rules. Tmobile cell worked.

The campsite was vacated by the previous camper promptly and the campsite was was cleared of all trash. The fire-pit was fully extinguished with nothing by ash remaining.

Cold nights in October kept the crowds away but the awesome views from this campground will be there all year long. The elk were very active in Moraine Park as well.
