One of the largest campgrounds i have ever been in. Even though it was large, it was very quite and clean, with new bathrooms and even shower areas.

Truly beautiful campground, and most campers were very respectful of the space and the quiet hours. My only complaint is that the site numbers make ZERO sense if you haven't been, so I reserved two sites chronologically next to each other but it turns out they were not actually next to each other. They were close, but there were other more adjacent sites. Also, one of the sites ended up being RIGHT next to the bathroom, which was annoying because every time someone uses it in the night the light stays on for quite awhile. There were also only shared bear boxes which can get quite cramped. But overall it was a truly lovely campground and I would love to come back soon!

Moraine Campground at RMNP is awesome. Great views of the mountains and the valley. You can pick up the Cub Lake Trail at the edge of the campground. Lots of wildlife in the area. Saw Elk in the valley every morning and deer wondered thru our campground several mornings. The restrooms were very clean. We used the bear box by our site to store food, toiletries and gear. It rained several days and everything stayed dry. There is recycling within a short walk or our campsite and there was potable water for drinking and cooking very close to campsite. We used the shuttle service several days to get to trail heads on Bear Lake Road. (Take the shuttle from campground entrance to main Bear Lake Shuttle and it drops you at all the major trailheads on Bear Lake Road. ) There is ice and firewood for purchase near campsite entrance from 5:30pm-8:30pm but bring cash. Park Rangers were very informative & knowledgeable on camp ground and the area. We did the following hikes and all were awesome. Cub Lake Trail, Sprague Lake, Bear Lake, Nymph Lake, Emerald Lake, Alberta Falls. Also did the Sky Pond hike which includes the Loch- beautiful - BUT very difficult hike towards the top. Our stay was 4 nights so we were able to spread out the hikes over that time period. Our campground was so peaceful . Late June and highs were in the 70's with lows in the 40's. Our campsite was Loop D - 146. Bit of an incline for hauling up the tent and essentials (approx 125ft uphill) But the restrooms & the potable water were only 50 ft from our campsite which is very convenient.
