RMNP is amazing. No other way to put it. The proximity to wildlife is like no other park I've been to. Every trail we hiked was meticulously maintained and led to amazing views that you can't see anywhere else. Being elk rut...there were elk EVERYWHERE which was so neat to see. For non-hikers there are still plenty of places to see by car. If you fly fish there are so many rivers to catch brook, rainbow and cut-throat trout. Estes park is far enough way (and a quiet enough town) that all you hear in the park is nature. It's great. But Estes Park is close enough so if you need anything it's only a stones throw away. If you're from anywhere but the mountains be sure to give yourself a day or two to acclimate to the elevation. A base elevation of 9K feet is no joke. If you're thinking about coming here, do it. I can't wait to get back.

Overall the campground is beautiful but we chose site #72 and didnt realize that walk-in meant probably 100 yards to get to our campsite on a little trail. Lesson learned but it took a lot of trips to carry all our camp supplies to the campsite. We were also disappointed that the bathroom nearest to us on the map was closed down. That should be taken off the map if its inoperable (the signs looked permanent). Needless to say it was quite a walk to the next bathroom. Finally our campsite was on a little hillside. The table want on a flat slope which made it difficult to cook on. He tent area was the only actual flat spot. Besides those issues the campsite was clean and well maintained. Rangers were helpful and the park was beautiful. Saw lots of elk.

My favorite campground. The Moraine is beautiful and campers are friendly and happy, happy to be there.

Beautiful campground! The bathrooms were plenty adequate, it was quiet enough to hear the Elk nearby all night long (they didn't keep me awake, they were just pleasant to listen to), and great access to the rest of the park! Awesome campground!
