The is a wonderful campground on the shore of the Rio Grande river. There is currently no source of potable water at the campground. You can see where the hand pump is at but there is no handle. The one pit toliet was well tended. There is no shade in the campground. When pullingour 35 ft travel trailer into our site instead of overhead obstructions there are a lot of large rocks on the ground that you must be aware of in order not to lose a running board.

Site 10 was listed with shade - except the big tree providing shade fell early in the summer and was still laying across the site (along with other associated debris). Luckily another FF site was available and I moved there. No campground host stationed at this campground (came from another campground).

Great location, close to Creed. A few fish in the river.

This review is primarily about site #10 where we stayed. As other have noted, there is a very large downed tree across the campsite which is sort of excusable. What is not excusable is the wall of dead branches piled up for about 10-15' along the side of parking area which forces you to place your trailer closer to next site and limits the use of the site. Someone with a large rig may have a problem. This is also a big fire danger. Secondly, the fire pit is located on the other side of the large dead tree rather than near the picnic table which makes it useless. Other issues of the park in general is the uncontrolled growth of weeds infringing on the road way and parking pads. This could have been a five star rating campsite along the river if not for the lack of upkeep. The park was quiet and well off the highway.

We drove up to our site and found a large tree down in the site which had obviously been there a long time as weeds were grown up around it. The picnic table was broken and unusable. The interior roads in the campground were rutted and had numerous pot holes. The host site looked like a homeless camp. The place was too awful and scary for us, we left. We've stayed in some rough places, but this was too much. This campground should either undergo extensive repairs or be closed.

The campsite was clean and spacious. This campground is not beautiful with trees as many are.

Great sites along the river. The bathrooms were nice and clean with plenty of toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Really close to Creede, so it was easy to get into town.

ladies bathroom not up to par and some sites had extra vehicles

Would be nice if they had a campground host. Need to clear fallen tree from riverside campsite. Very clean and well located campground.

The campground is unkept. There is no water, no camp host. You could not use the picnic table it was so old and warped. Our reserved site #10 had a fallen tree in the middle of it with a large pile of all the branches. We moved to a FCFS site instead. We will not be back.

our site(for a tent) was small but close to the river, there was NOT a camp host on site so not able to purchase firewood, bathrooms were clean

Great little campground sitting on the Rio Grande. Minimal facilities, minimal shade. Although right next to highway 160 road noise is non existent. Theres more noise from the gravel roads across the river than from the highway.Sites 4 & 5 are tight, if bringing in a trailer you may want to back it in from the loop.Planning on going back again!

Great to be right next to the Rio Grande in site #6. They even had a place to put your sink water in.

Its a small campground , but so pretty. The grandkids enjoyed playing in the river. Pit toilets were clean. And the hosts were very friendly.

Very nice campground. Quiet, with a good amount of space between sites. And bathroom was very clean!

Poor local management. They didn’t bother to unlock the campground so us and all the other guests were left stranded and had to find a new site at short notice. We did not get to stay here due to management slacking.

Absolutely beautiful location. One note that there isn't a lot of shade at most of the sites. We ended up taking our camp chairs down to the riverbed to get some shade and that worked out great. Camp host was very accommodating. Unfortunately, there was no water available so bring your own.

Just what you want in a low key NF campground amid spectacular surroundings. Camp host Lou is a gem.

Near Creed and a day trip from Lake City and the headwaters of the Rio Grande. Beautiful setting on the banks of the Rio Grande. Campsite is small and no water is available but otherwise is great. Hostess Lou has managed the site for years and does an excellent job. Vault toilets are impeccably clean and fresh. Site is open but decently spaced.
@GuyandMarciaW6 · Camped on Jul 20, 2022 at Campsite #6
Nice, well kept, small, Host Lou was wonderful, friendly, helpful, bathrooms were spotless, odorless, well supplied
@KathyM4352816 · Camped on Jul 17, 2022 at Campsite #10
Clean, quiet and peaceful. Our campsite was close to the river and was about half full for most of our stay so. Will definitely be going back. Great day rides and just a few miles from Creede.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
