My first choice was Granite Mountain but it was closed. What really irks me is that many if not most of the USFS and NPS campgrounds have gone to the recreation.gov reservation system. Despite being almost empty, I had to make a reservation on the spot begging the question of what happens if there is no internet or cell phone coverage. The reservation system really stinks. One now cannot check out the campground for favorable spots and to avoid being near unpleasant campers much less not knowing the campground unless one has been there previously. It disfavors people like me who do not travel on a schedule. Furthermore, one gets surcharged a $9 fee for each reservation. In my case, I could only make a reservation for only one night without driving around the campground while on the phone which was obviously impractical. I consequently moved on the next day because otherwise I would have had to make another reservation and move camp. The representative picked up quickly and was as helpful as he could. The campground hosts also were helpful as best they could. The outhouses were in disrepair with no way to look the doors. The hosts told me hat vagrants had been a problem. After four years of using a USFS campground in the South Forty Eight, this was a rude wake-up call. This is another sign of how our country has gone south. Even camping out has become industrial-strength and unpleasant.

We really liked White Spar campground. It was not very crowded and very pretty. The two negative things about it were the toilets were never serviced and you had to take your own toilet paper. The other bad thing was an 5th wheel near by that was obviously being lived in had a generator that ran 24/7 all 3 nights we were there. Also they had a dog that was not on a leash. The "host" had a sign that said off duty. Other than that, it was a great place!

The campground was beautiful and could easily have given it 5 stars but due to campers running generators during the night made it impossible to sleep. Ruins the whole nature experience.

White Spar is a beautiful, clean campground! The camp hosts are amazing! This is our favorite place to get away

I have been camping all over AZ for a year now and White Spar is my favorite and only place I've been to twice. This gorgeous campground is well maintained and the staff are friendly. You just can't beat the smell of those pines every day. If you want quiet and solitude this is the place to go. The sites are very large and the restrooms are well kept.

Always enjoy this campground. Sites are spacious. Close to town and many hiking trails. Sites are clean. Only negative was stinky restrooms, broken restroom door lock, and broken water faucet.

Really nice spots, clean, quiet, easy access location. Exactly what we wanted for a quick getaway. Complete with picnic table and fire ring.

Amazing time. We saw deer at the campsite the first night. Finally able to enjoy a wood fire. Campsites are clean and have plenty of room between them. I have a longer camper and was still able to navigate my way through the campground with ease.

White Spar is one of our favorite campsites. Large private spaces ensure a very relaxing trip.

Nice, large campground with lots of trees to separate the spaces. Plenty of paved roads throughout the campground for our kids to ride their bikes.
