This campground had great bathrooms and nice, well maintained sites. However, the raccoons are out of control. This site (40) is right next to a thicket of bushes/shrubs which is one of the the raccoons' lair. Even while having a fire and being active at our site, raccoons came through and tried to steal food. We woke up early in the morning to a few of them fighting and scurrying up and down a tree on our campsite. A little bit jarring because the animals are so bold and loud. Would come back and stay in one of the huts!

The campground is very well maintained. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Hot showers were much appreciated! It was very quiet when I was there. Stars at night were amazing, and the hiking and bird watching were outstanding! Cant wait to go back!

This hidden gem of a campground is the perfect spot for stargazing, thanks to its secluded location far from city lights. It's a dream for hikers, with easy access to a variety of park trails. Dont worry if you forget something; the camp store has you covered with all the essentials. With at least T-mobile, you can usually find a single bar of LTE service near the store or in sporadic spots around the campground for quick calls or texts.

I LOVE this park. Beautiful terrain, lovely hikes ... and the condors! For that, I would give 5 stars. I docked one star, for a combination of the following; 1) I tried calling during business hours prior to my arrival with a question - no answer - so I followed with an email... I have yet to receive a response (It's been several weeks). 2) when I arrived, I learned that the showers are not working ... usually, when a service is not available, it's been noted in the camping web page. Also, it's common that the fee is reduced because the service is not available. In this case, neither applied. 3) it was clearly stated on the web page that a fire ban was in affect, and that included propane fire pits. My neighbor had a propane fire pit going each night and no one ever stopped by to inform them of the rules. The fire pit was out and clearly visible throughout the day. No note or anything. A possible indicator for a lack of oversight here associated with the camping being operated by a 3rd party. And 4), after taxes and fees, the total was nearly $150 for 3 nights. That's a little pricey for a site with no hook ups & a broken shower (Not to mention the $30 entrance fee). Given all of that, still a beautiful park and I'm sure I'll be back.

I paid for my reservation but there was no sign on my campsite saying reserved. Within 5 minutes of being there, while my truck was open and I was getting my camping gear out, 3 raccoons jumped in my trunk and refused to get out. I yelled loud enough and the mama and babies jumped out. The they climbed on my picnic table looking for scraps and strolled away. Very evident they were not afraid to get into peoples belongings and were not afraid of humans. This was probably my least favorite national park, it was in a very backwoods kind of area, not much to see or do and the people working there were ok.

Great place to camp: helpful rangers, very friendly staff in the office/store, clean bathrooms, hot showers, amazing hiking plus the opportunity to see the iconic California Condors! Whats not to love?

Campsite was next to bathrooms which was convenient but a little noisy. Kids loved biking around the loop of this section of the campground.

Loved staying way up near the wilderness and local hikes!

Bathrooms were clean, store had a lot of variety in case you forgot something, and the campsite was very nice and spacious. Not much more I could ask for from a campsite. Great experience.

Very close to the start of the trailheads and they have a convenient shuttle to take you there from the campsite to save you some time.

Tidy campsites and bathrooms! Showers were still under construction, but that was okay for us. We didn't buy anything at the store, but poked around and were impressed by how well stocked it was. Forgetting something wouldn't have been the end of the world!

We enjoyed proximity to trails for hiking! Camping made it possible to avoid any busy parking lots, which helped for hikes to the high peaks/bear gulch. We saw 6 condors in the High Peaks area!

Really nice facilities, clean bathrooms, easy to find my way around! Super pretty and the sky was amazing at night

The best thing was the 20 min. "show" of the 10 CA condors soaring over the ridge nonstop at dusk! It was such a privilege to see even one condor, let alone 10! We felt so honored that we were there at that time.

Awesome park, very well maintained and crowd control. One bathroom stall was out-of-service otherwise all were stocked with materials and clean. Campstore was nice - no alcohol sold but everything else needed was there.

It gets hot during the day and pretty cold at night, so plan accordingly! There also isn’t a ton of shade on the campsites closer to the road, but the farther back you get the more likely you’ll have shade on your site for at least part of the day. The hike from the Bear Gulch day use area up Condor Gulch trail was fun and challenging for someone who doesn’t do hike regularly, and the hike from the campground to the Bear Gulch Day use area (Bench trail) was pleasant and pretty flat, so it was a great cool down.

The camp store is pretty basic, some frozen meals and most necessities you may have forgotten. There is firewood delivery available but bring a hatchet to chop a piece apart because there was no kindling included and there is no wood collecting allowed. Overall a nice experience, I’ll definitely come back.
