Get an early start. The trailhead parking lots were full so we got to add 2+ miles from the campground to the trailheads. EACH WAY.

Camping is so much better when campfires are not allowed in the campfire rings. The air is nice and clean and healthy to breathe. I love pinnacles in the fall for this reason.

The campground is amazing. There is a huge difference between campsites. Some are right up on the road with ZERO privacy and others are totally private. The group sites tend to attract people who like to play music while the sites back on the loops tend to be super quiet. The one thing I hate about this campground is now low the fire pits are., They are only about 6 inches high which makes them a massive tripping danger for young kids and we had an injury due to a child tripping on them.

Camping as it should be. Glorious settings with private very green wooded spaces, kids playing all sorts of fun games in the roads, guitars around campfires, frogs croaking all night ,purple irises in the stream bed, comfy but not over the top center areas. In short, just Wonderful.

Our campsite #68 was ideal. Very private, large enough for two tents, and with a soothing, gurgling creek right behind us. There are two reasons why it didn't qualify as a 5-star stay: the campfire restrictions typical of late summer/fall made for very short evenings and frigid mornings given the cold overnight temperatures. And the bathrooms in the tent loop are Porto-potties, not the flush toilets available elsewhere in the campground. P.S. Make sure that literally all food is stored in the safety bin. One of us left an unopened Clif bar in a zippered backpack compartment which caused an overnight visit by a family of raccoons who were determined to have at it. Easier to shoo them off than a bear, but still a bit intense (and avoidable) in the moment.

It was warm while we were there. Most camp sites have good shade. The pool and showers are a nice touch. It was awesome to see the Condors flying, what a spectacular site to see. Bring a flashlight and do the cave hike. Worth every step.

The pool area is sub par with little shade. Almost all of the sites, including ours were surrounded by poison oak. It was very nerve wracking to have a 6 and 4 year old there.

We love the campsite. Very quiet and secluded. But the last 3 times we've camped there, there is no bathroom! Only 5 "porta pottys". Thank goodness, at least they had two hand washing "sinks" this year. I think that there should be a REAL bathroom for a National Park campground. Either that or give us a discount!!

Great campground and great hiking trails. very popular; even coming from the campground you need to arrive at the trailheads early to get a place to park, especially on the weekends. There's supposed to be a shuttle bus when it's busy but they weren't running because they can't get drivers.

Campground was empty and beautiful. Saw so many birds (including condors flying above camp) plus a bobcat running up the hill behind my camp one evening. I did a short hike in the park, but honestly the most wildlife I saw was in the campground. I recommend going in the off-season (I visited in early December) and spend some time taking a stroll through the entire campground/the trail to the peaks viewpoint. In the C loop especially, the sites were large and private and I enjoyed a beautiful creek behind mine. My ONLY negative takeaway, as many others have noted, was the insane raccoon activity in camp. Seriously, this place is run by raccoons. Don't cook food after dark and don't turn your back for a second. I sat by my campfire for a few hours at night after dinner/sunset, and spent those hours staring into the trees/brush around me watching little animal eyes stare back. The lil guys are cheeky and will get VERY close to you. They surrounded my camp, the water spout, and the bathrooms. I eventually turned to the sanctuary of my car for bed VERY early and could hear them scampering around all night. In the morning, I looked into the bushes next to my site and could see tons of trash scraps that had clearly been stolen by the raccoons (none of which was mine, I packed light and kept all my food/trash next to my side or in the CLOSED food locker). All of this is to say that I don't blame the raccoons, I blame campers for training these lil guys over the years that they can easily get food from people. If you're choosing to camp in a beautiful place, recognize the privilege and don't ruin it for the animals and people to come - store your food properly and watch your belongings!! All in all, 9/10 trip and I'll come ready to battle next time.

Bathroom was out of service, replacement portapotties were terrible and contributed to a large amount of paper towel trash littering the area. Using portapotties for three days with a 3 and a 5 year old is not what we wanted.
Shuttle driver was also unhinged and angry. Seems like too big of a campground for one camp host. Love the area.

Love this park! But a few nits to pick:When we arrived on Thursday all the trash containers were full to overflowing but fortunately they were emptied on Friday. The regular bathrooms were closed and they had portapotties set up instead and boy did they need to be pumped out.We walked to get the shuttle on Friday morning and found a sign that they were only running Sat and Sun. We walked back to our site and drove to the only parking available at the Peak View lot. We hiked the 1.5 miles to Bear Gulch and were shocked to see the shuttle was running, would have been nice to know!

We had a great time here but, the only exception we had was the bathrooms/showers were not cleaned regularly. With the number of visitors (Campers and daily visitors waiting for the shuttle), there should be a separate restroom and shower area for campers. Also, we come here every year and there was a restroom in our area that has been under reconstruction since our last visit here.

What a beautiful, scenic, clean, and quiet campground. We were in site 68, located near a serene creek that lulled us to sleep at night. We were there a few days before Christmas, so that might be why there were so few people there. It was great - I would definitely camp there again.

Me and my wife love coming here its our 4th year spending part of thanksgiving week there and the first 2 years were great with working showers and bathrooms and no entry fee for the park but now there is no working bathrooms or showers and a $30 entry fee even if youve paid for a campsite would have no issue paying the $30 fee if there was working showers because now we have to cut our trips a little shorter due to that. Will still be coming back because we love it but just unfortunate that we have the fee and no working showers and now porta potties instead

Lots of wildlife, saw 5 condors. Beautiful park, fun interesting and challenging hikes. Clean campground, the camp store has better souvenirs than the visitor center

the Pinnacles is a wonderful park with geology unlike the most of Central California. living on the Monterey Peninsula we're lucky to have such a park within 90 minutes reach. the campground is very nice but reservations are probably necessary on weekends, of course, and school vacation periods. summer can be rough as temperatures soar there. hiking is probably the number one attraction there so be ready when you hit the trails. views are stunning, however, but you have to put in the trail effort. our only gripe was that during our last visit the bathrooms were closed for repairs and only one porta-potty was sent to replace five toilets (men and womens' )! you'd be surprised how quickly a porta-potty can fill up when dozens of people in one section are using it! a campground employee said the Parks Service was responsible for the shortage of replacement toilets and he was apologetic. and before we left 4 more porta-potties were delivered to the restroom site. it was a little bad luck to visit when all this toilet problem was happening but it didn't derail our fun!

Site 68 C is near the bathrooms, has some shade, and across from the water spigot. The one tent spot is full sun and the bear bin is full sun. There are two picnic tables that have evening shade. It's a good site but in warm weather, it's going to be exposed.

Great hiking opportunities, both long and short, steep and level. We were there on the Full Moon, and we had clear skies for optimal viewing. Great place to be for the New Moon since it's a dark sky area.
Be aware that camping does not get you in to the National Park, which you have to drive into to reach the campsite. If you have a National Park Pass, take it with you, or be prepared to pay an admission fee. The campground is run as a concession, and not by the National Park Service.

This was the first time my husband and I ever visited this park and it's only a few hours from our home in the Bay Area! WOW! Lots of great hiking and I'm so glad that we took on the High Peaks Trail...I was pretty scared up at the top, but I conquered my fear. We did run out of water...so bring plenty. It was very hot even in October.

Great campground - well-maintained, nice layout. Quiet at quiet hours. Really enjoyed the trails - must go early/late in the hot summer. Saw condors! Magnificent. Saw the meteor showers under a clear night sky.

the Pinnacles is a great place, a great National treasure. if you visit please respect it. if the pristine outdoors is not your thing then please stay inside at the shopping malls.

1. One shower (one for each gender) for over 60 campsites (most with multiple people) is grossly inadequate. Also, the availability of hot water is spotty at best.
2. Your website should and can easily mention, the items most campers might need which are available or not at the campground store, given the distance to the nearest town.
3. Roadside electronic signs advising visitors of road congestion and lack of parking should be placed in Hollister, King City and Coalinga on roads leading to the Park. Placing them at the Park itself, when people can see the congestion for themselves, isn’t helpful and somewhat ridiculous.
