This is a great campground! A lot of the sites for tent camping have ample shade. The bathrooms near the C loop are just porta-pottys, but they were in good condition and clean. It was nice and quiet during the quiet hours too. There is a great shuttle that runs from the campground, to Bear Gulch, where there are multiple trail-heads. This was my second stay at the Pinnacles campground, and it was just as nice as the first time.

The campground was nice and clean. Loop C only has outhouses but there is plenty of water spigots. The Bear Gulch hike was awesome and with spring rains other hikes were not available. Its pretty chill at Pinnacles NP.

This campground is lovely. The dark sky thoughtfulness is incredibly appreciated. The rangers were INCREDIBLE! They were informative and caring.

Pinnacles is a wonderful park and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the campsite, hiking trails, views and warm showers. We will return. Thanks for a memorable trip.

The bear box for keeping food was too small. Not a single one of our coolers or food bin fit inside. We camped at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area the next week and those boxes fit three coolers and all food bins. It is such a shame because the animals were very food aggressive at Pinnacles.

Our site, 59, was very beautiful, with a great flat surface for the tent. Very spacious with the creek behind it. Somewhat disappointed with the bathrooms, not well kept.

Loved this campsite! Lots of shade and plenty of space. Close to 2 water spigots and near enough to the bathrooms. Could easily book with sites 60 or 58 for multiple parties together too.

The caves are cool

Very clean site and relatively quiet. They need a bridge between the 50s-60s site and the exit!

The Pinnacles Campground is a bit off the beaten path but well worth the extra driving to get to this beautiful location. Our camping dates were 11/26-29 and this was a perfect time! It was crisp cold in the morning but ideal for starting a hike on the many amazing trails. On our hike up to Condor Gulch Overlook was exciting...we spotted seven Condors circling near us, what a sight! We were impressed by the beauty of the Bear Gulch Reservoir and awed while walking through caves formed by ancient volcanic boulders. We stayed in site 59 which was great, but many others in that part of the loop were just as nice. From our site, we saw several black-tailed deer passing through. Definitely coming back, but not in the peak season. Roads through the campground are narrow and this place would be a zoo when crowded.

Making the reservation was very easy online. Receiving confirmation emails was quite reassuring. We stayed in space #59 and my son and his family had Space #58. These spots were perfect as they both opened up in the back to the creek. Please note however, that your camping reservation does not exclude paying the park admission fee. That is in addition to the camping fee.

We had a reservation for site 59 but did not stay. recreation.gov says that this site can accept trailers with a max of 37 ft and while that may be technically true, I think that could only be accomplished if you could somehow have your trailer carried in and dropped into the site by a helicopter. The loop road around the campsites is simply too tight to back a trailer into this or pretty much any of the other sites along these loops. The actual RV sites are 82-112 so stick to those.

For reference, we have a 30' trailer and tried going at it from both directions, but the road and the bounding trees are just too tight to make the turn without scratching up your truck or trailer. The people in spot 60 (right next door) had a tiny R-Pod trailer and said that the only way they could get their trailer into their spot was to make a circle by driving through 59 and then around into 60 (technically driving on vegetation that would probably break some NPS rules). We ended up canceling our reservation and driving way back down the road to Thousand Trails San Benito. Thanks a lot, recreation.gov for the inaccurate information, the frustration, and the wasted time.

TL;DR If you have an RV, do not book into any sites here other than the designated RV sites, which are 82-112.

The national park was great, but there were some issues with the campground. A camp staffer insisted we take down our pop-up dressing room simply because it LOOKED like a shower/bathroom tent. I get that greywater contamination of the land is a no-no and that some folks don't dispose of waste properly, but WE were not using it as either a shower or a toilet - it was only there for some privacy (and ability to stand up - my husband is very tall) while changing clothes! Explaining this was of no avail. The staffer also complained about how we parked - there was no railroad tie marking the end of the parking pad and apparently we pulled in a bit too far. We were not "in the forest" as he claimed, however - we were on hard-packed earth. The spaces can supposedly accommodate two vehicles - if we'd had two (we didn't), we would have been equally far in.

A bit of advice - bring fly repellent! The flies were not only numerous but extremely pesky, and they're the type that go for your eyes, nose and mouth.

One night stay during warm spell during late June.. campsite choices were shaded, non hookup sites, or exposed hook up sites. We booked online the shady non hookup site.. upon arrival these sites were along a mosquito infested area w no breeze. Pushing 100 degrees decided to change to hookup site for AC. The concession charged the fee to cancel my site, then charged an additional fee to rebook the new site.. kinda cruddy….
Woke up super early 6 am to embark on bear gulch hike..lovely hike with no crowds if you hit it early.. went back to campground to shower before checking out.. both bathrooms closed for cleaning…was told 1 hour closure, kind of poor planning since this is a very busy time for potty / shower business. Last disappointment was the dump station.. I called in advance to make sure it was operational..was told “we only allow black water dumping, no gray water dumping allowed…”whaaat??? For such a remote national park with all its beauty, the concessions could be run a little better….lastly, the pool was meh… rather chilly but refreshing…

Our site was absolutely amazing, tucked back from the road by thick trees and right along a creek. Water and bathrooms just a short walk away. We did get some brazen raccoons so do lock your things up and don't leave open containers of water out (they'll be caked in mud the next morning). The campstore has everything you need and then some, and is surprisingly affordable (except for smores ingredients lol) and you can get maps, field guides and souvenirs at the gift store next door. The showers take quarters, $.50 minimum gets you 3 minutes if I remember correctly - $1.25 was more than enough time for a quick shower. We were there on weekdays and drove to the Bear Gulch day use parking lot two days in a row and had no issue getting a parking spot even at midday. The hikes and birds were beautiful! Overall a great experience.

Excellent campground in late winter and spring, before the summer heat arrives. Excellent, well-maintained trails and facilities throughout the park.
