Pinnacles is a great national park for hiking! November was a perfect time to visit with sunny and cool weather. We were fortunate on the Friday before Thanksgiving week to park at the Bear Gulch Cave lot, leaving the campground about 9 am that day. On Saturday, we left at 8 am and parked at the Old Pinnacles lot. The campground is on the expensive side for the basic amenities it offers (including port-a-potties in our section of the campground). There are two different roads leading to campsites - one that is primarily for RVs with larger open spaces and the other that is primarily for tents with tighter spaces and more privacy. We stayed on the "tent" side with a 27 foot travel trailer. Site 62 was listed as being for a max 29 foot trailer, though the limited turning space with sharp foliage lining the road and the driveway made it very tight. We were able to get in position, though we had to turn around and go down the loop the wrong way to back in to the driveway, which is situated at a right angle to the road. We managed to park our tow vehicle parallel to the road in the site, just barely. I wouldn't recommend site 62 for a trailer, or at least not a very large one just to make things smoother. On the positive side, site 62 is an interesting L shaped site with a large tent/picnic table area off to the side of the driveway and many trees, offering a good deal of privacy (not necessarily in terms of noise). There is no clearly demarcated check-in parking for RVs and the space near the entrance to the campground is tight. There is also no fresh water fill near the entrance. We were advised to pull up near a spigot in the RV site area before heading to our campsite. This worked, but required turning around after filling up. There is water available in the "tent" section, though most of the spigots are not threaded and you would need to block the road to use them. All in all, we enjoyed the stay and would do so again, just in another campsite.

This site is excellent. Its much more private than many other campgrounds Ive driven by. The restroom (honey bucket) is only a short walk away, and its very clean.

Campsites are laid out very well for privacy and space.

We loved Pinnacles. We visited at the very end of July, and the days were hot and the nights warm. Our campsite was great, close to water and the toilets, and had sun and shade to suit our needs. The park was amazing, we started our hikes early-ish (around 7) to beat the heat of the day (check out alltrails.com for some hiking ideas). We'd get back to the campground early afternoon and then enjoy the pool, which was nice and cool. We had two full days, which we spent doing each "half" of the park: the first day we did the balconies trail loop starting from the old pinnacles parking lot, and the second day we took it easy and did the southern trails, starting at bear gulch and doing the condor gulch trail to moses springs and back to bear gulch. Do be wary of the raccoons, which are numerous and bold. We were very careful with keeping our food locked away (there are a few other reviews warning about them which we took very seriously) and nothing got stolen from us, but we heard plenty of other campers trying (loudly) to shoo them off.

This campsite seemed more private than most, it was the only one in the vicinity on its side of the road. Very spacious. The nearby toilets were port-o-potties, if that matters to you.The campsites are pretty far from the well known hiking trails near the inside of the park. I was here on Thanksgiving day where things weren't too full, so I was able to drive in and park easily. The day after Thanksgiving was another story - the lots in the park (bear gulch, old pinnacles, others) filled up early. The shuttle service they offered from the campground parking to bear gulch, while much appreciated, was not frequent enough to handle all the visitors. For busy holidays/weekends, prepare for disappointing waits, or to tack on an extra 5 miles of hiking if you want to hike in straight from the campgrounds.

Must get there before 9:00AM on weekend or parking will be full at top location and you will need to hike up three miles on very hot summer heat.

Love the campsite. Very clean and free showers! There was a nice sized pool to help beat the heat. The raccoons and birds were way too fearless around us campers. I was trying to eat my peach peacefully but a blue scrub came straight flying at my face for it. It was also way too hot but that's what you get for camping in the summer. The camp store was nice. We had to wake up super early to beat the heat to go on a nice hike and it was worth it!

Enjoyed the stay at Pinnacles campground very much. Appreciated the well maintained bathroom facilities. Liked the very low speed limit that accommodated the many quail, turkey, and squirrels crossing the road. The firewood box with starter at the camp store was handy, but too pricey at $20/box.

We luckily chose a spot in the C loop which allowed for a more private camping experience. A lot of the other loops are wide open spaces with no privacy. Park was quiet, great star gazing, fully stocked store, and lots of very friendly wildlife esp the raccoons! Only odd and off putting was the over zealous park ranger and unmarked Fed vehicle with pump action rifles constantly patrolling an otherwise very safe parkseemed very excessive and not inline with other NPs or SPs.

Great campsites here. However, the bathroom situation is ridiculous. Our campsite loop (with many campsites) had one bathroom. Two sinks, two stalls each gender. No place to put your toiletries kit at all - just 2 small sinks with no surround. Trying to take out or put in contact lens a challenge. No electricity and motion detector light lasts abut 30 seconds. Our second night, the rangers locked the bathroom due to a plumbing issue. That left ONE porta potty for many campsites. So no sinks or running water. By the morning, the porta potty was about to overflow. Truly hard to use. That left a 5 to 10 minute walk to next campsite loop that had 3 porta potties. The regular bathroom there had been closed so long weeds had grown up around it. Very badly managed and maintained. Would not recommend.

Great park. Campsites gave a nice amount of privacy. Smaller than most National Parks but gorgeous! I would recommend staying 1 night :)

They said that the showers would be in maintenance for two weeks, we booked for after those days, and when we got there it still wasn't working.

This is a beautiful place to visit. Just ridiculous how nps regulates every step you take. Charges $40 to pitch my own tent. Kinda crazy you dont charge for oxygen...yet. plus the public shouldnt need to "review" wilderness. This is not a best buy.

Unbelievable hikes and the kids had a blast in the pool! Watch out for the raccoons they are a real nuisance!

Stayed at site 62 for one night and had a great time. The site had a little privacy with some bushes and large stumps that we appreciated. Short walk to bathrooms. Showers are at the entrance to the campground, so that was a short drive. Would stay again.

Another excellent trip to Pinnacles National Park with basecamp at Pinnacles Campground. Lots of wildlife in and around the campsites at night, great campground staff and clean well maintained campsites. Always a treat to visit!

Pinnacles Campground was fantastic. Friendly and genuinely helpful staff. The campground and facilities were spotless and well maintained. Unfortunately the pool is closed. No cell coverage. WiFi is available for purchase $10 for the entire stay for 1 phone and can only be used around the store. Camp showers were clean and the hot water was fantastic, a great deal, 50c for the 1st 3 minutes and 25c per minute thereafter. COVID 19 precautions were followed by staff and campers - only 2 people in the store or in the restroom/showers at a time with masks required. All the campers were very friendly and likely appreciative of the great outdoors even more so these days. Loop C is the loop you want to be for tent camping as it has the most opportunities for shade and privacy. The other loops tend to be very exposed and open with little privacy. We stayed at Site 62 which was large, private had great partial shade from oak trees. Site 61 is fully shaded, secluded and very large. I would recommend Loop C Sites 59-62 and 66-71 for the most shade and privacy. It was hot, 105 in early June so beware of the heat at Pinnacles!
